i got the SMC Barricade Router and i realised now (after Flashcom decided to go under) that my new ISP (provided by my apartment building) uses something i'm not quite familiar with.

it goes through the phone line, yes, but then it connects through some kind of translator and into the USB. my ISP is called Case of Command (www.caseofcommand.com). it's really weird stuff.

how in the world do i use the router to connect online with this new, yet weird, service?

i hope i don't have to wait until i change ISP to use my brand new SMC router. :(

help? pleasE?

I've heard of some ISP's using USB instead of ethernet. I would ask them if they have any other options for connectivity. A friend of mine got Ameritech service and they gave him a USB connection, but he asked if they could give him an ethernet one and they said okay.

Otherwise, you could use your ethernet card to output to the router, but you would need a server hosting program probably. Or you could use the Windows Internet Connection Sharing.

but there's no converter from USB>Ethernet available out there?

Actually, there may be a converter like that, check out SMC's page or Linksys's page . . . perhaps they have a product like that. I briefly looked once to see if there was something out there that does that, but didn't find one.
