Anybody in the Portland Metro area that wants to go to the Winterhawks game tomorrow, 7PM in the Rose Garden? I've got two tickets, and my girl/ex-girl, whatever you want to call her, bailed on me. I figure I can hook a fellow G|A'er up. If ya wanna go, lemme know and I'll meet ya up there.

Bah! Bring em on! Seriously though, I think its gonna be a great series if Portland keeps playing the way they have been. Ramage has been nearly perfect in goal, and Gaustad has been lighting it up from everywhere. They have 3 great lines, with each player contributing in one way or another. Too bad Young got hurt. I hope he can make it back by next friday.

We'll see who gets trounced...

I'm saying Portland in 6... maybe 7. But of course, I'm biased.

They already did, 4-0. I'll take the Rebs in 5. And I have no bias either way (maybe slightly toward the Hawks because they're a west team if anything).

C'mon! In 5? Give the Hawks a lil more credit then that... have you been watching any of their games? The only goals Ramage gave up at home were one very questionable one(didnt actually go over the line) and one where his defensemen let him down, and he had no chance of getting to it. Regardless, he won both games and posted a shutout. He has been a possesed man. I might go with RD in 6, but not in 5.

Hate to say I told ya so, but...well, was I right or was I right? Now you know how strong the Rebels are. Even though I only saw them once this year, I could tell they would be the team to beat. At least we know we have a kickass team representing the WHL at the Memorial Cup. I think Regina will be lucky to get a win.

Here's my take on the series. The first game up in RD, RD was lucky to come away with teh W. Portland played a better game for the majority of the evening, but jsut couldnt put the whole package togther.
Game 2, RD definitely deserved the win, but boy o boy did they get sloppy in the 3rd. Portland had a few good chances to send it to OT, but once again, couldnt get it all together.
Game 3, which i was personally at, was a well matched game. Portland came out with the fire they had in teh previous series, and RD came out looking a little conceided. Both teams played well, and Portland deserved to win in regulation, but it took the extra period to do it.
Game 4, which I was at too, showed the real sides of RD. Portland had some excellent chances, and the game was really closer than the 4-1 score.
Game 5 was a thriller. I listened and watched on the net, adn both teams played well. The way Portalnd played in the first, if they could haev carried that level of play, wow, it would have been 6 -1 Portland! But alas, they let up, and let RD get back. They showed some grit getting it into OT, and Im not quite sure why Ramage didnt try to poke check Wanvig or at least do something to try and screw him up.

Over all, heres my impression of RD. They have some excellent players, and hot damn are they fast. Rd always seems to have one mroe guy on the ice, always in the right posistion, then the other team. Its amazing. I found myself counting the players they had on ice numerous times. But frankly, the referees called a somewhat biased series in my opinion. soem of the calls they made in RD's favor were so blatently wrong it was amazing. Also, they have abotu zero class. Bendera, as good of a goalie as he is(damn good at that), is a low life cheater. Every time RD would clear it out of their zone, and a hawk would be behind the net catching up, Bendera would take a shot at them. Slash him, trip him, whatever. Only once did a ref see it and call him on it. It was ridiculous. Lupashuck(or whatever) kicked a guy with is skate after he tripped him and the play was stopped. The refs let it go. I saw numerous guys go after joey hopes ankle in this final game when he came back. There were quite a few times that the refs called penalties in crucial situations in the game against portland, that from every angle I ever saw, were no where close a penalty. I got the feelign the refs were trying to help RD win as much as possible. Portland would get a rally started, and all of a sudden, boom penalty for soemthign nobody saw. Portland woudl get a lead, boom, penalty. It was a littel frustrating.

As much as I am bitching, RD is a great team. They have a lot of good players, and one heck of a goal tender. I just think this series could have been a much better one, and prbably would have gone at least 6 or 7. Portland never really played to their full potential, and that is their fault, and partly RD's great game plans. RD is a great team, and they deserve the Presidents cup. I havent seen the teams from the other leagues, but right now, Id say RD would take it. Regina? What a fricken joke. I think they need to abolish the host team rule. Take the runner up from one of the divisions each year, and rotate it amongst the 4 divisions. Portland deserves to be there much more than regina does.
