Check it out->> http://www.computergeeks.com/mp3/portable/default.asp
This seems better than those 200 dollar mp3 players that only stores about an hours worth of mp3.
Use the comment "MC Exclusives" on the comment portion of computer geeks to get extra 10% off.
BTW, this player is already shipping so it does exist, eventhough its still first generation.
oh my gosh...........5 different kinds of mp3 cd players out already this mont!!!!!!!!!!! Ranges from 99 dollars to 299.

Only drawback I see in these kinds of devices is battery life. All that spinning and seek time will take a toll on the batteries. Seems like every other technology has moved ahead while battery technology still lags. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

...or use the 60 free batteries...if your lucky enough to get them.
Just so you guys know, the MP3/CD player made by Genica (I believe it also goes by the name MPTrip) is known for being cheaply manufactured. When you pay $99 for a portable MP3/CD player you'll only be getting your money's worth. Personally, I'd suggest waiting for the Mambo-X. I've been talking to a whole bunch of companies so that I could start selling these bad-boys over the Internet. If anyone is interested in splitting a bulk-purchase of 250 high-quality MP3/CD players with me (you take at least 25 units), please let me know so that we can work out some prices. I'd be personally importing them from Hong-Kong.

I've seen these deals, and am skeptical... I like, but the technology will be 2x better by July, when they can read 700mb discs have radio/reg cd read and other great stuff. Let me know more about the mambo!

I have one of the Genica twins (the MPTrip 2000 from easybuy2000.com)
It may look cheap, but from my use it is not cheap at all.
It CAN play 700MB cds and it does also play regular cds.
Only downfall is that you can't see the name of the song playing.

I'm also looking to buy the mambox player. However, the shipping date on this thing keeps on being pushed back all over the place. It was supposed to have been out at least a month ago now, but now a reseller is reporting 5/30 shipping dates.
I don't know what to make of that...

The MamboX is a very promising release but now, they are no longer going to support ID3 Tags, which means the LCD screen will not be able to display the song title and artist name, alot of people do think that the MamboX is now Vapourware, they have put off the release date for their mp3/cd player 4 times now, and there are no pictures of the unit itself, so it sort of brings you to wonder, is it vapourware?

I might wait to see what the next generation has to offer, but I do want to get one of thes portable cd players that reads MP3s.
