This is a possible warm Rio Volt deal. It retails for $199, but is available for $140.95 at Buy.com:
http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10273635
Unfortunately, they just ran out of stock, so the item is backordered. You may want to email Buy.com to see if they'll get more in within a month, so they don't cancel your order. If you're willing to risk it:
(1) They've classified it as a computer item, rather than electronics, so if you order before the 2nd of this month, shipping is free.
(2) If you also order over $9.05 worth of CD-Rs or whatever, you can use one of the $15 off of $150 coupons available here at Gotapex.
The only gamble is whether or not they will get more in within the month. If they do, you'll have gotten the Rio Volt + $9 worth of blank CDs for $135 shipped. I ordered last week without the free shipping offer and got mine for $140 shipped, with $5 of blank CDs. I thought it was a good deal, and so far, seems to be a really nice player.
If anyone finds out the ETA of the product, please post.

Do not order from buy.
Order from staples. Pricematch with Buy.com's price to staples CSR. It isn't readily searchable from Staples webpage but it is sku#IM1262106
then use coupon code #91464 for $25 off

Yeah, that's why I said that the item isn't readily searchable at staple's webpage. You have to call up staples to do the pricematch.

I don't think staples will pricematch to a backordered item... also i don't believe the free shipping is for next-day (which staples pricematches too. though sometimes the csr might overlook that)

I called Staples and there is no such SKU or description available - CSR tried everything she really wanted to make a sale!

It's now back in stock at Buy.com, but for $145. I'd buy it again at this price, and free shipping still applies. Still a pretty good deal with a $15 off $150 coupon.

The Rio Volt Really ROCKS. I bought one of these about a month ago and lovet it! I can fit about 190 Tracks (Or about 10 cds) on to one disk, I have just about all the songs I have ever wanted on 3 CDs (I got them before Napster shutdown).
One thing I really like is that you can EASILY Navigate the 190 tracks by just organizing them in a folder with all the songs form a CDs in that folder -- Then you can treat each folder like a CD (Shuffle, Repete, ect). The only downside is the volume is a little low - Fine for headphone listening, but when you hook it up to a home entertainment system via the line out, It comes out a bit too soft. I just use it for personal listening so I really like it.
It also has about a 15 Hr battery life on just 2 AA Batteries! I really like it a ton, just in case any of you were wondering about performance....

i dunno if it rocks, but here's my review. i bought one when they first came in (traded my philips expanian for it). i did/do like the fact that it reads mp3's, id3 tags, as well as cd text. it can navigate, and has a neat lil remote.
BUT, it skips when you walk. it's supposed to have like 100 sec shock protection but it doesn't work when you walk. and if you think it's just me, it's not. i work at best buy and a few customers have told me the same things and have seen a few returned. i'm probably goin to return mine...just after my trip to seattle...hehe
so, if your's doesn't skip, lemme know then i'll just exchange it, or else i'll use that money for something else

FYI: After calling 1-800-3STAPLE once a day for a week to find out whether the Rio Volt was in stock nationally, I walked into a B&M Staples in NYC, and they found me a Rio Volt in the back.
I got them to match my printout of the current Buy.com price ($144.95), then mentioned code 91398 (from a letter from Staples stating $25 off $100+ purchase), and the manager gave me the deal!
Final price after tax: $129.85! Pretty sweet deal - now I have to see how it works!
