I just took the first half of my Java Final (all programming) today.

I'm not one to bitch about tests and how "unfair" they are, because every test I've taken has been related to material taught WITHIN the course.

But today, ha..haha...well

Our instructor gave us a sample program last thursday and said that the final COULD be like that. He wanted to give us some exposure to what the exam would be like. Well, I figured they would be similar in format but have different contents and detail. I spent three days writing and rewriting the code with all sorts of changes.
I also studied EVERYTHING we've covered this semester that was not in the sample.

I was studying in the adjacent lab before class, and I noticed the class taking the final before us walked out EXTREMELY unhappy. I remembered a voice in my head saying, "No good could come of this."

Well, I walk into class today to see that I was right not only about the final being different from the sample. But a major portion of the program was on arrays and sorting their contents that WE DID NOT cover.

He said he would curve the exam, but why the hell would you give an exam where not a single person in two classes could complete?

(Oh, and his curve is mostly subjective and it's graded by his TA's ---which puts me up shit creek again, because I know more about programming than they do)

Today sucks.

(thanks for letting me rant a little)

heh, couldnt be as bad as my java final. Me and my friend eric had to write a game server, everyone else in the class had to write games...

Oh did i mention that we didnt learn anyhitn in the classes, and the prof sucked so much he had to start from the begining when we got back from easter break.
