3 times faster than GeForce2 Ultra. Wow!

You guys realize that no games are out yet that will take advantage of the new GeForce 3 architecture, right? Plus you'll only see a dramatic diffrence in performence when you run at REALLY high resolutions, like >1600... That may be the best price avaliable, but $350 is still too much. If it were my money, I wouldn't buy it unless at least 1 game fully supported it. Plus by then, the price will have dropped at least a little. But some people have $ to burn... I wish I had that problem.

Not to mention that the so called "3 times faster" are only in certain applications such as antiliasing (sp?). That is so misleading! You are not going to go from 100 fps to 300 fps with the GF 3! There are tests out there that actually show that the GF2 Ultra is FASTER with the same settings at lower resolutions and the higher resolutions are off by only a couple of framerates. As the previous poster mentioned, it's a waste of money until there are games that utilze the GF 3's uses. In otherword's, if you already have a GF 2, hold off until the prices drop.

Yeah....that's a lot of money for a video card. For that money and a little more I could get TRD front and rear sway bars. :D

No games support it, eh?? How about the freaking GF3 enhanced copy of GIANTS that's included with it for starters. I don't own Giant's yet, and the standing retail price @ local stores is $50 (just go along with me for the sake of discussion here). The price of a GF2 Ultra is $499 still @ Worst Buy and CompUSSR. In essence, I could pay ~$550 + 7% sales tax or $335.95 (there was free shipping as well and a $15 off coupon) for a better experience and a card that will last longer and will be better supported than the POS Radeon in my machine now.... It's not for everyone but you only live once... I know I'll eat these words when the product refresh hits, but the features are exciting and the AA alone makes it worth the price of admission in my book...
still a good deal vs. what's available retail and through pricewatch....

Deal dead? Cant see cheaper price.
Holy Moly back up to $500 now!

RezERez, the GF2 Ultra is $279 at buy.com minus the 15 off 150 brings it to $266. Yes, the Ultra may be $499 at Comp USA, but who would buy it there? BTW, the price is for an Elsa Gladiac. Here's an interesting article which shows just how close the 2 compare.

The person who would buy @ CompUSA would be the one who can't wait for a product to be shipped to them... I know they're close in DX7 games. Think about DX8
The visiontek one is $329.95 shipped:

Speaking from just having gotten one today, AVOID the Visiontek. The quality is not there.... the box doesn't come shrink wrapped (minor quibble but Elsa's Gladiac box will come shrink wrapped AND include Giants), and when I took the card out of the anti-static bag, it looks like a rat took 4 bites out of the bottom (small, sharp pointy half circles on the bottom edge of the card in 4 distinct areas). On top of it all, my system locks up in Black and White now, and considering the only reason I paid retail on it (besides having it today) was to speed up B&W and make it "pretty" via Quincunx AA it's just totally unacceptable.... I've NEVER had a video card that looked like this!! Got it from the local Electronics Boutique today after excusenottobuy.com rejected my order for the Gladiac at the $339.95 after coupon price.... I don't care how bad ATi's drivers are, I'm going back to the Radeon and sticking with it... you've been warned about the Visiontek
Thanks for the info RezERez
There's a review of the unit. I'm personally waiting for a GF3 with DVI-i to come out because I'm on a digital LCD. I had a VisionTek GF DDR for awhile that didn't have any quality issues, but it's entirely possible that they changed FAB's.

RezERez, the tests performed from the link I provided WERE DX8.

As evidenced by the 3DMark 2001 #'s that were contained in the link you provided, there will be a benefit to a GF3. However, after my experience with the Visiontek I now see how getting a GF3 now is a "want" more than a "need". I think I'm going to wait and see how the Kyro II and R200 pan out before buying another card.... the deal wasn't that bad though (until buy.com cancelled mine)...
