View Full Version : Norton virus scan

I currently have an outdated version of Mcafee virus scan. I heard that norton is a lot better at catching viruses. My question is should I get norton antivirus 2001? I also heard they have norton systemworks 2001, and norton utilities. how are these three different, and which one would help performance and keep my computer from getting infected from viruses? thanks.

get system works tho its priced around $50 its not bad fer clean up and keepin ur comp at tip top shape ; )
Ive never had anything but problems with most norton products, exluding norton antivirus. i have since stopped using most of their stuff. i do use norton av 2001 and reccomend it over mcafee. i was using mcafee and the day i installed norton it caught 3 or 4 viri. i suggest that if you install norton and see that there are some viri in your computer, do a fresh install of windows and get rid of all infected files.
I stopped using Norton products years ago. They used to be first-rate, but not anymore. I've done a lot of tech support, and Norton AV is often way more trouble than it is worth. I'd definitely go with McAfee.

I used to use the bloated norton stuff until I started using inoculateIT. It is free for personal use and is normally a couple hundred bucks or more for buinesses! The link:
Just register it and download it and install. Updates are free also! I have been using it for about six months and like it a lot better than norton. It doesn't slow the machine down nearly as much

I totally agree about InnoculateIT. I have been using it for over a year with no problems. It is fast and simple. I own several copies of McAffee and Norton AV (can't seem to pass up those "free after rebate" deals) but have opted to continue using CA's product.
BTW, in case you don't know, Computer Associates is the fourth largest software company, was third until a few months ago.
