an article from 1999 about a group of people of european ancestry that were in north america before our so-called Natives. no im not racist i just think its funny that white ppl were here first and they just reclaimed it.

all kidding aside, this is kinda old news. and no conclusion can really be drawn from this really, except that some white guy was here a long time ago. so what? maybe later we'll find that someone that looks like what you have already dubbed "our so-called Natives" was here before that. maybe not. however, you've already drawn a conclusion. the fact of the matter is, we killed the Native Americans and drove them to live on reservations. that is still sad.

thats where you are wrong (i can't spell) the fact that this group of people ( i say group because they were at no point in history a large civilization) has been labeled as a peaceful earth loving group at existed here for whoever knows how long, they were living in the stone age at the turn of the century and they did not effect north america as much as their whiny relatives believe.

well this is kinda old news...I read it on slashdot a while ago (6months-1year ago). As for the conclusion from these bones, I believe I remember them saying that they have to find the remains of at least 3 people to consider it to be a colony.

i guess i really don't have that much to add until xsiled provides us with further points to ponder, so i will wrap up by pointing out that he is a squat and ugly troll. with warts. and hairs on the warts. and fleas. and funny-lookin webbed feet.

it strayed from the original discussion right from the original post. there was a story of bones found, and someone decided that it was the expanded roman empire. or something like that.
ya know, he even IMed me when i was in the shower....but was gone when i got back. when you're trolling, shouldnt you have the decency to stick around to see who is gonna bite?

do you call me a troll because these people were overcome by a power stronger in mind and in warfare or is it the fact that these people rely on something that happened hundreds of years ago to get by. you all seem to have not read this article if you had you would have picked up on a few key points. 1. The "natives" take these bones and keep them as if the were on "tribal" land or were of one of their tribes. 2. the bones were of a 5'10" person with characteristics of european ancestry (white). 3. 5 tribes claim the bones. 4. clinton covers up information and the site of digging. instead of call me a troll accept the fact that europeans were on the "New World" first.
i wonder if GAM is gonna lock this thread on the premise that this troll doesn't understand what he is saying?

first off, you have made several attempts at making several different points, all of them clear as mud. let me clarify as best i can, for my own benefit, and then shoot them down with superior reasoning one by one.
1. Europeans were here first.
okay. so? nobody here was denying that. that mean they don't gotta play nice when they show up again 1000 years later?
2. native americans are whiney.
not many left, so the whining isn't too loud. if they don't root for the redskins and the fighting illini, can you really blame them?
and it's not as though they've just been sitting morosely on their reservations for two hundred years waiting for guvmint cheese and firewater to be handed to them by the great white father. well into the second half of the last century, native americans tried again and again to be farmers. they bought land, farmed it, made a little money, and as soon as a white neighbor got jealous, they made up something to sue the redskin in court for, and wound up taking possession of the farm as punitive damages. after a few generations of that crap, they kinda quit trying so hard.
couple that with the fact that the reservation is home. lots of people like to stay where they feel at home. when home is a ghetto wasteland with no good jobs, you stay poor.
add in the fact that as of the last decade for sure (and probably to this day), the us guvmint has actively quashed native american culture. for example, native americans were banned from wearing religious t-shirts (proclaiming their pride in their ancient religion) on their reservations. i saw this firsthand. why? nobody knows. but it sure as hell wouldn't make me feel comfortable going out to make my way among white people.
3. whites and asians should have casinos, too.
they do. you seen the mississippi lately?
if you mean un-taxed by the guvmint, okay. sure. why not? doesn't bother me. but it also doesn't bother me that a people that have been so shat upon for so long are getting a little break that whitey isn't.
4. clinton covers stuff up.

5. you are annoyed that various tribes want to claim the bones that are very likely european.
so... why? got some space in your own personal bone museum? if they hold the land as sacred, i see no reason why they shouldn't hold the bones on the land as sacred. so what if they were not genetically related to those bones as closely as your average cracker? we are all related to some degree, and if they want to cherish those bones, why shouldn't they be able to? what's the harm? these are people to whom they are related, who lived on and loved the same land as them, and if they feel a spiritual connecton to them, more power to them. no reason to get annoyed by it.
did i miss anything?

okay... let me approach this one carefully so i don't get lost in all the twists and turns... you feel superior to what you classify as a "non-civilized group" who did not affect north america as much as the white men with their guns, pollution, and general mistreatment of women, children and blacks, and you scoff at their reputation as tree-hugging hippies.

No, we call you a troll because you seem to imply that because someone found some old bones that MIGHT be those of someone of European origin, the Anglo-Saxons were justified in the way they went about wiping out the Indian tribes, annihilating their culture and community, and leaving them to rot in the most desolate portions of the country. I disagree with your logic. Others seem to agree with me. Your opinion does not make you a target for others' accusations of you being a troll. However, your use of fairly inflammatory remarks does. For example:

hell, there is evidence of migrations from 11,000 years ago, from both sides of the coast. So what? After a few thousand years, they all became indians - those that didn't die outright.

I also fail to see how one body that exhibits characteristics of a race automatically implies that there was a culture of those people there.
You could drop my Western European carcass in the middle of Japan 3000 years ago... that doesn't mean a vast culture of redheaded samurai were wiped out by the invading Japanese.
You need a few skeletons. Some evidence of tools or graves of obviously different manufacture than the prevalent culture.
Even back then people traveled. There's evidence that the Polynesians reached the California coast. There's even some evidence that Romans might have reached the Carribbean.
Obviously everyone's heard about the Vikings.
One corpse does not prove a culture. Just a mystery.

conclusion: i was bored i found this peice of writing that could have some appeal in this forum i took a point of view and went with it. what clinton did was wrong, i dont want a casino, and i dont find my self superior to any one. the reaction to a point of view was all i wanted and it hurts to be called a troll. accept this or go on as you please

Yeah, this is exactly what we're talking about. A troll is someone who posts just to see what kind of reaction they can get. True, well thought out debate is not the primary interest. Plain visceral reaction is. That's the purest definition of trolling I can imagine.
