a) Dl the drivers and unzip them to a folder on your HD
b) Change your adapter to std vga but choose no to restart computer
c) Go to add/remove and remove the nvidia drivers/display properties. choose no to restart
d) Go to c:\windows\inf\other (for Win98) and delete any nvidia inf files (choose open to view them and see that they came from nvidia if you are unsure)
e) Reboot. When Windows detects your vid card choose have disk and point it to wherever you unzipped the 12.0's.
f) Drink beverage of choice.

std vga is a setting. Basiclly what you see when you first install windows or a new video card, before loading drivers. It kicks your resolution to 640x480 and to 16-bit or is 8-bit color. Basiclly looks like crap. The reason is you want to be able to see that everything is cool between your video card and monitor. All montiors and video card support std vga mode by default. I have found out the hard way about trying to set the resolution to a setting that your monitor doesn't support. it doesn't look pretty!
