Whatever happened with the Cybiko deal? I went out of town this weekend and can't find a thing about it anywhere now?? What happened?
(the deal was that the top 5 referers would get a free Cybiko for themselves and all people they refered?)

Maggie @ dealhunting.com says that they are going to honor the original rules and are to start shipping units early this month. Have to wait and see.

There is one HUGE catch.
EVERY single entry under the winning referrers must be legit. If just one person made a joke entry then it will void ALL of Maggie's (DealHunting) entries. The same goes for all the other referrers.
Obviously with 50 people, it is easier to edit the list than if you had 2500 entries, but hopefully it will work.
This was part of the original rules so I don't blame them for enforcing it and trying to get out of giving away 10,000 free units.

Lone,
I think you may have interpreted the rules just a bit. This is all it says in their rules about disqualification:
"Cybiko reserves the right, at its sole discretion: (i) to disqualify any Registrant who Cybiko reasonably believes has not complied with this Agreement and or any applicable law or regulation, or tampered with the entry process; and (ii) to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest or any portion thereof at any time and for any reason."
Note the term registrant. NOT rep. I don't see anywhere else they mention in their rules disqualifying anyone. That email that went out about checking your registrants was likely intended for the folks who fudged a few entries in their registrant list for the sake of getting into the top 51. Heck, it only took what, 9 or 10 referrals to get in the top 51?
They also say:
"Each winning Cybiko Rep and Registrant ("Winner") will be contacted by e-mail the week of April 30th, 2001. The Prize for each level will be shipped via United States Postal Service the week of May 7th, 2001."
So we should be hearing from them soon one way or another.

As of yet, I have not been contacted to verify anything. Has anyone been contacted by them to verify anything? I did get an email the day I registered saying, "Congratulations, You are now a real member of Cybiko Community!"

pd123: I am in the same boat as you are... no confirmation. I would give them until the 7th to get confirmations out...it is just a waiting game now anyway..

Nothing, i got an e-mail though that this deal is only good for kids under 18 :( :( that's not fair
I believe that only the top 51 referrers got the e-mail stating that CYBIKO's would start shipping on May 7. Don't worry about it till then =)

The site has been update to show Dealhunting as one of the two grand prize winners.

Take a look a the number of referrals down the list - If I would have known I could get $100 and a free Cybiko just by getting 8 friends to sign up...

I have a feeling that with the top 2 they had more signups than they had any idea they'd be getting!
But yeah, I agree, it's amazing how few the majority were. I can't complain about getting a $99 unit for free, especially since I had looked into buying one in the past!
