Hey guys. What are some good rental car companies? I'm going to visit my friend in Hawaii somewhere around the beginning of September, but he doesn't have a car he can use. (also, you guys know of any good places to visit in Hawaii?)
i dint rent a car. took the bus everywhere (easy to do). go snorkeling in hanauma bay. also check out the view at nuuanu pali (this is where the decisive battle that united the islands was won by King Kamehameha. those who did not surrender opted to jump off the point). waikiki is a blast. you can check out the arizona, of course. then there is the dole plantation and stuff. you can get a good package that will do a lot of stuff for pretty cheap.

Just make sure that you are 25 before you try to rent a car. Some companies may be lenient on this, but some adhere.

Hertz requires you to be 25, while Enterprise only requires you to be 21, and in New York state, 18. Avis states:
As with most rental car companies, at most Avis locations the minimum age to rent is 25. In certain situations or at certain locations, the minimum age may be 18 or 21. If you are under 25, you will need to check with us in advance to determine if you will be able to rent.
they rent mad scooters over there. but dont rent one of those....they're like bus magnets. where you wanna go anyhow? everything is pretty central.

my friend lives inland and it takes about 1-1:30 hours to get to the beach by bus. where as a car would only take 30 mins
they have hotels there for like $100/night. like a block or so from the beach.
