All I can say, is that having a bad Hangover has to be one of the WORST sensations that you can ever experience. All throughout college, I think I had one hangover, and I drank like a fish. Ever since graduating (and thus drinking less), I have been prone to getting minor hangovers every once and a while, with a rare killer hangover. I think this past saturday I had one of the ALL TIME WORST hangovers. I woke up at 6am puking my guts out. Every 15 minutes or so, I had to make a run to the head and I was having the worst stomach convulsions I can remember. At about 9 am or so, I finally fell back asleep for about an hour and half, when I started puking again! To top it off, I was scheduled to be at work at 12, so I decided to try and pull myself together, to go in. I puked then attempted to take a shower, attempt being the operative word. I was too weak to even stand in the shower, and ended up laying there for about 30 minutes. At that point I realized that there was no way that I was going to be able to go in. I crawled out of the shower and back into bed, where I called in. The kicker, it was my last day of work! the store was short staffed to begin with and so I was told that I had to try and make it in for the end of the day, otherwise there would be no salesmen. At this point, I passed out until about 4 when I woke up, and went in. Everyone was laughing because of my brown bottle flu, as the manager put it, and the fact that I looked like I had been hit by a mack truck. It was not a fun couple of hours.
I couldnt even eat for till about 10pm that night!
Of couse, i dont even remember parts of the party the previous night, so I hope I didnt do anything that I regret.
That is what I call MAJOR suckage

Nights like that you just gotta hope that you didn't commit any major suckage. :)
You ready to get drunk again tonight?

the worst hangover i had was a little over a year ago. i couldn't eat anything for two days.
i don't remember most of the party, but i remember some the 6 hours i spent puking. and the intense headache and weakness and just yuck.
i heard some stories of what i did at the party, and thank goodness i didn't do anything that *horrible*. things that made me blush, but not too bad.

of course he's ready to drink...what else would he do now that he doesn't have to work anymore. Of course, it's more fun when you drink at work...

Hey, like an old rugby buddy of mine used to say, if you're going to be a man in the evening, you better be a man in the morning. That's pretty lame that you skipped work because you were hung over (then again, it WAS you last day, so...eh, fuck 'em!)
Here's a rememdy that might just be crazy enough, and god knows it's gotten me ready for Sunday mimosas by the side of the pool once or twice before! Chocolate soda. As Homer says, "We all agree your plan is crazy; what we want to know is if it's crazy enough!"
There's some theraputic, stomach settling component to chocolate that makes it work really well for settling the stomach, and we all know about the ol' "have some 7-up to settle your knees". It seems like a sensible marriage of two agreeable things. I read this in GQ, and was like, yeah, fat fucking chance of that working. Chocolate soda? How about frothy brown puke?
Well, after a particulalry bad bender that left me too sick to think, I had a friend go pick me up one. Magic.
Just a word from your wise old owl, Pennypinch.

There are just some times where a man is just too hungover to get out of bed to go to work, and that was one of those times. But I still went in and only missed an hour of my total shift time... I just stayed late. I dont think puking on the job would have made me a real man...because I have done it before.

my worst hangover ever - i tried to keep up drinking with my cousins. my cousins are four guys, all between 6'2 and 6'7. i am 5'1-1/2. and i did keep up with them, beer for beer. i even remember smoking like 5 cigarettes. and i have never smoked before or since. i never did puke. but i passed out when i tried to take a shower, too - and this was two days later. i finally managed to eat some macaroni and cheese on the THIRD night.
oh, that was bad.

Whoa, I don't kow. Must have entered a name from another board by accident, and I guess it was an old username I used to use on this board. Weird!
I just try to sleep through them. I know its hard sometimes, as soon as you close your eyes it feels like the worlds spinning around you and shit. But if you can fall asleep, stay there as long as you can and just sleep it off.
This hangover cure works for me every time: a large glass of OJ, two ibuprofen, and an hours sleep.

you'll miss your liver, dude, but yeah, that does work. actually, i have like at least a quart of water. the more you rehydrate, the better. the best is if you have some med student friends that will put you on a saline iv.

don't take this wrong but, ufcrusher, what you experienced was alcohol poisoning you experienced not a hangover. That was later when you stopped pukeing when the hangover really happened :)
When your body rejects alcohol like your's did, that is bad...
I've done that too... don't want to do it again...
yuck!

I dont think that I had alcohol poisoning, but I could be mistaken. I have had to take friends to the hospital to take care of their alcohol problems. Generally, alcohol poisoning will show itself with problems regulating body temperatures, skin will take on a grey pallour, and depending on the severity of the poisoning, tremors. While vomitting can be a sign of poisoning, but at the same time, the opposite isnt true. Just because you are puking does not mean that you have "alcohol poisoning" as in requires hospital care, medical intervention, or major cause of concern.
Although I was vomitting, I didnt have any of the symptoms of true alcohol poisoning. My body was trying to rid itself of an excess amount of alcohol which would have taxed my liver. Thus my body removed the toxin in the most direct route possible.
Well, that is my input, but then again I am not in med school.

Taking "friends" to the hospital ? So this is, what, the 3rd time you've had alcohol poisoning? :)

alcohol poisoning is the point at which your body begins to reject alcohol or shuts down until alcohol content reaches acceptable levels. I've had alcohol poisoning dozens of times, although Mezpin can attest that none of the times have been too recent (but I was pretty loaded a few weekends ago). I guess my point is that not all alcohol poisoning cases require medical attention.

Being drunk isn't the same as alcohol poisoning, jackass. Unless you're trying to say that one Smirnoff Ice gave you alcohol poisoning...? :)

ProMinx is right about the poisioning. There are several different levels and the body rejecting the alcohol is one of the first.
If you had drank more, your symptoms might have been worse. It is basically an allergic reaction to the alcohol you were drinking. That is part of the reason why you can drink certain types of alcohol and others make you queezy.

I love that when it comes to alcohol, we're all doctors. Not too many other substances can inspire that kind of expertise.

ewwwwwwww.
you know, this is politically incorrect, but very, very proven - the best cure for the unpleasant symptoms of a hangover is a modest amount of alcohol. one beer for breakfast the next day works wonders. they don't report the dozens of clinical studies that prove that... now that's a study i woulda volunteered for!

Actually, I thought that was pretty common knowledge. The teacher even told us about it in health class back in Junior High (waaaayyyyy back in Junior High). Getting the hair of the dog that bit you, its called. Its not as easy as it sounds though. Trying to force down a couple beers when your head is pounding and your stomach is rebelling can be tough. Better off fixing up a bloody mary or two, or some mimosas.
