hey everyone... Thanks for looking first of all

I currently have 3 computers hooked up to my Linksys 4 port (BEFSR41) router. I was thinking of getting Pac Bell DSL service and I am not sure if it is easy to set it up so that all 3 computers can be online at the same time.

Anyone know if this is possible and if so can you give me some pointers. I hear that you have to log on via some program called Internet 300 and I was thinking this may cause some conflicts if another computer tries to log on. Will this bump off the other previously logged on computer? In other words can the same account be logged on multiple times at the same time?

Thanks in advance!

dude this is just a sugestion and I am not a network freak at all...

but a 10/100 card costs like 20 bucks and if you got the money for DSL why dont you get a second card for your server and log in on that comp and hook up the second card to the uplink on the router and share your connection that way?

just a sugestion and I think it should work...

tell me if it does!

well each computer has a 10/100 network card to hook up to the router. So I think that's what you were suggesting

yea but what I am suggesting is that one comp have two cards and be directly connected to your DSL on one card and connected to the switch on the second card...

that way the DSL see's one comp and you only need to log in once...

Actually I think he was saying that one pc would have 2 NIC cards in it. One for the connection and one for the network itself. You can use Windows to share the connection at that point or WinGate (or another connection sharing software). Which is what I do since I won't let my hubby spend money on a router right now. We have a hub and it works just fine :)

I don't know much about your router but most will, after u connect your dsl modem to it, will share the connection.

pay the extra 5 or so bucka a month for more ip's, and plug the dsl modem into the uplink port on the router.
