Aargh!!!!!!

I hate cops who have nothing to do but give people outrageous speeding tickets to fulfill their monthly quotas. Case in point. My girlfriend is driving to New York today and has to drive through Connecticut. For all of you who know the route, I'm sure you're feeling me, but for those who don't... Connecticut is known as the hell-hole state that the devil made Route 95 curve around into. I swear that anyone who has gotten a speeding ticket has gotten one from this state. They have the most traffic cops per capita, and a large portion of their state revenue must come from ticket sales. So she calls me on her cell phone, telling me that she has just received her first ticket in eight years of driving. Her speed: 80 mph, she was keeping up with traffic w/ four cars ahead of her going faster. She just happened to be last in line. Total cost: $298. Ten minutes later, I get another call. Pulled over again, apparently there was a "hidden" zone for a 50mph zone on the freeway. Her speed: 74 mph, Total cost: $195. I swear that it must be the end of the quarter for traffic cops. Anyways, I know that Connecticut is a state, where if you pay up your ticket, there are no points assigned to your license (I guess all the more justified for them to charge outrageous prices on speeding tickets). Is anyone in this forum familiar w/ Connecticut law? Any advice? Is there a such thing as a good-driver law, where she could get one ticket dismissed for having a clean record? I just don't feel like she should ante up 1/2 a g to feed the donut staff at the local policery.

By the way, any crazy cop stories out there? I really don't hate cops. Most of my experiences with them have actually been allright, especially out in California. But seriously, these Connecticut cops are outrageous!

I don't know how connecticut law is, but in texas we can take a drivers safety course to get rid of one ticket per year. You can do the course online now I think and if not you can do it through like video tapes you rent at Blockbuster or you can actually goto the class that takes 12 hours in one day (HELL!). I hate cops as well. I used to have a clean record, then one day I was sort of "racing" my friend. I wasn't even going that fast. This was about 6 months after I first got my license. Anyways, i'm going down the street maybe 50 in a 30. Well out of no where a cop comes out and I see lights, I slow down and he just passes me up, goes ahead of me and pulls over my friend, then I keep going thinking he's only going to get my friend......but noooooooo he stands in the middle of the road to where I almost hit him and pulls me over! Anyways, he was a total *******. This is what I got: 1 ticket for speeding, 1 ticket for running a stop sign (I barely rolled it), 1 ticket for exhibition of acceleration (he said I peeled out around the corner as I 'ran' the stop sign), 1 ticket for not having a front license plate. TOTAL BULLSHIT! My friend got the same tickets minus the no license plate in the front. I hate cops :)

I've managed to get out of three separate moving violations - warnings on all of them. And I'm not even a girl! :)

One of them was an "exhibition of speed" violation, even though I wasn't breaking the speed limit or even racing anybody. I was just showing off my car to a friend right after I got it, and when you stomp on it in 2nd, my car takes off pretty quickly and more importantly, LOUDLY. So a cop was right there writing a ticket for someone else and waved me over to tell me not to do that any more or cops will give me a ticket regardless of speed.

That sucks about your girlfriend, though. I'll have to remember to stay away from Connecticut when I'm on the East Coast.

I was driving in MD one day and got tagged doin 62 in a 40 zone. I think the fine was like $135, 2 points. This was even at the beginning of the month, can you believe that?!

Anyway, I'm a member of this legal service that covers me nationwide if I ever get a speeding ticket. I had an A.V. (which means like A+) rated lawyer go to traffic court with me for free, he did all the talking, and he got my ticket acquitted! I didn't even have to pay court costs!

Oh yeah, if I was driving in Connecticut and got a speeding ticket, I'd have an A.V. rated lawyer from CT go to court for me down there (at no extra cost) without me and represent me because the service is nationwide. You guys should really get on this service. It's cheap, effective, and traffic representation is only the start.

Email me for more specs if you want your tickets represented. I don't want to make this some advertisement on this forum. Just sharing my past experiences! =)
