Aargh!!!!!!
I hate cops who have nothing to do but give people outrageous speeding tickets to fulfill their monthly quotas. Case in point. My girlfriend is driving to New York today and has to drive through Connecticut. For all of you who know the route, I'm sure you're feeling me, but for those who don't... Connecticut is known as the hell-hole state that the devil made Route 95 curve around into. I swear that anyone who has gotten a speeding ticket has gotten one from this state. They have the most traffic cops per capita, and a large portion of their state revenue must come from ticket sales. So she calls me on her cell phone, telling me that she has just received her first ticket in eight years of driving. Her speed: 80 mph, she was keeping up with traffic w/ four cars ahead of her going faster. She just happened to be last in line. Total cost: $298. Ten minutes later, I get another call. Pulled over again, apparently there was a "hidden" zone for a 50mph zone on the freeway. Her speed: 74 mph, Total cost: $195. I swear that it must be the end of the quarter for traffic cops. Anyways, I know that Connecticut is a state, where if you pay up your ticket, there are no points assigned to your license (I guess all the more justified for them to charge outrageous prices on speeding tickets). Is anyone in this forum familiar w/ Connecticut law? Any advice? Is there a such thing as a good-driver law, where she could get one ticket dismissed for having a clean record? I just don't feel like she should ante up 1/2 a g to feed the donut staff at the local policery.
By the way, any crazy cop stories out there? I really don't hate cops. Most of my experiences with them have actually been allright, especially out in California. But seriously, these Connecticut cops are outrageous!
