The competition is getting pissed because they don't offer the same types of programs with their GUI's. I'm sick of them bitching. If they are so upset with it, why dont they make somthing better! Make somthing better damnit, and it would sell.

If the competition doesn't like it, why don't they just make their own features/programs for their OS's, or strike deals with the companies that do?

Remeber our parents saying something like this, "If you'd spend half as much energy on your product, that you spend bitching about the competition, you'd make the best product available!"

Not that I'm a huge MS fan, but in this scenario, I must say: GO MICROSOFT!

Let's put it in perspective.

The Mac OS comes with the Apple DVD Player, QuickTime, iTunes, Disc Burner, and AOL software. Sure, AOL doesn't complain when they get an exclusive deal to be the sole IM program bundled with an OS, but put anything else in and they raise all hell.

Most every Linux distribution I've seen comes with programs that do most of these things. Hell, some even come with big, free office application bundles that compete with Microsoft Office and I've yet to see them try to sue anyone. For some reason its OK to include applications in your OS, but not if you make them yourself. What's up with that?

I don't always agree with how they do it, but I think that Microsoft has done a lot of positive things for the industry (and some negative things too). But you gotta admit they have one of the smartest management teams in the world. Everything seems to be part of their conspiracy and that's a testament to how good they are. Knowing all that I know about computers and all the millions of configurations you can have inside, it's still a wonder to me that I can push a button and one piece of software can recognize it all and boot my machine.

Hey, on another note, if any of you guys want to try out Beta 2 for Windows XP (and have a fast enough download speed...), then I can try to get it from my friend and send it to you. I'm trying to convince my friend to send me his iso and the instructions on how he got around the security.
