Guys i actually need advise i guess.

Here is the thing My girl and I and this other couple who are friends of ours went to a public park after 9 (Parks in new york close after 9)
So we are there just chilling talking, etc. I know i will be made fun of this later, but we were on a swingset for crying out loud. All of a suden a police cruiser pulls up, and the cop in the vehicle says to us come here guys. And then after we came up to him, i swear to god this is what he said : "What are yous guys doin here" (It's a shame that these people are not required to go to college). So we are like, nothing just you know relaxing. So he is like this is a public park and it is closed after 9pm so i will give you guys a ticket(not even a warning from that bastard), anyways so we are like how much is the ticket then he says 10-15 dollars and i am like oh shit, and he is like what what's up you don't like, are you unhappy, so i thought to myself am i supposed to be happy when getting a motherfu*king ticket?
So then he is like well you should cheer up because i will only give you 2 guys a ticket and not to the girls... you will be heroes in their eyes (what the fu*k).
SO then we get the tickets and he is like don't worry it will be about 25 dollars (WHAT? Inflation he said 10-15 before) so i am like yo hold up where is the $$$ amount he is like at the bottom of the ticket and he sped off. The ammount is not on the ticket.

I am going to court because 1) i have a day off anyway and i am not losing money at work and 2)out of principle because the guy is a dick.

I have some ideas but any input would be appreciated

i am not allowed to be a cop. you know why? my iq is too high. i shit you not. i don't know if this is some national policy or what, but people with iq's over a certain level (and its not much, like 120) are absolutely not hired (around here, anyway) because it is assumed that they will be bored and unchallenged and will not stay on the job for long.

that said, yeah, that guy broke all kinds of laws and rules of decency. he's one of those cops who likes to feel powerful. absolutely loving the fact that he can say whatever he wants to you, and if you try to answer with any sign of sack, he can fuck with you and get away with it.

if you go to court and the cop doesn't show up (and a lot of times they don't) you win by default (last time i did this, i had to show up 3 times, and the cop failed to show all three times, so the charge was dismissed.)

and the judge, if it is a he and an old fart, will find the "tickets for the d00ds only" completely acceptable. so, good luck, and if you do wind up arguing in court, don't malign the cop's character, just stay calm and state reasonably why it was unfair (the price getting upped, the cop refusing to answer direct questions, tickets for some and not all)

See i was thinking of going with sexual descrimination, the guy abusing the powers given to him by the state therefore rapeing the law, i was also thinking saying how he should have given a warning especailly because i have a clean record and we didn't do anything destructive, plus what kind of a way is it anyway to show the police like this in the community?

a couple of questions- is it posted that the park closes at 9? if it is, then you probably shouldn't say anything about a warning. the judge could bring up the point that if you knew/it was posted that the park was closed, why should you have recieved a warning?

Thats true, and i dont think its because you would be unchallenged, its because they DON'T want you to think for yourself. They want you to follow orders no matter what.

ummm... we just helped you out as much as we can. with sympathy. you have our condolences, but there is no other help for you.

nobody "deserves" a warning. he had every right to give you a ticket, regardless of whether you knew the park was closed or not (ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking the law). and all he has to say is that he gave the girls no tickets because they were polite, and the guys got them because y'all mouthed off (whether you did or not; doesn't matter.) so he was neither polite nor gramatically correct... that's not going to get you out of paying the ticket. the best you can hope for is that he doesn't show up to your three court dates.

Last week my wife got a parking ticket for not having her front license plate. If that's not a lame ticket...tell me what is. Anyways...that night, I didn't have time, nor could I find the bolts to put the plate back on...so I shoved it into her front dash, so that its up against the window.
Well...lo and behold, the very NEXT day, she gets the same ticket again! Can you believe it?...makes me wonder what West Hollywood cops are like!?

I called...to see if there was some kind of grace period for the first ticket...to see if we could avoid paying the 2nd. In short...nope...they just changed their "system" so that now we have to treat each incident separately. I could go to court and probably win...but don't have the time.

whatever...

That's pretty bad, but a friend of mine actually got 2 of those tickets...IN ONE DAY!!! I'm not sure exactly what he did, but I think he only had to pay for one of them. But still, the trouble of having to go to the police station and argue.
