Ok basically my sound is acting up. Rather than have my computer illiterate ass "guessing" what's going on here, I thik it'd be better if I just list all the major symptoms.

- winamp or media player won't play. If I run an MP3, winamp just stops. It doesn't freeze, but just doesn't play. The time display just stops. If I move the 'seeking bar' to another point in the song, it'll just stop there. There's no sound. If Ip lay an MP3 with Media Player, the time display actually runs, but just no sound.

- If I plug in speakers or headphones to the back of the computer, I just hear a very small, almost non-existent 'hum.' The only thing that affects this humming is the "Master Volume" and the "MIDI Volume" in the volume control settings.

- I thought it might be a problem with the headphone plug in the back of the computer, but when I insert a CD, winamp will auto run it and will play fine ragardless of where I plug the headphones in.

- CD are the only things that will play. No MP3s, no web flash movies, etc....

- I tried upgrading the drivers, but the computer says there aren't any newer drivers, so it can't upgrade.

HELP!

Well, the stupid electricity crisis caught up with me, I had a blackout hit my block. That's not the problem I think my soundcard got fried. Not sure if I should post it here, but it's a sound problem too. On top of that my POS scanner is causing system wide problems. Stupid HP should get their act together.

This has happened to me before... what I had to do was reinstall any software that deals with the Audio hardware - i.e. Creative Studio.

It's not a guarantee, but it usually works. :-\

sorry for the late reply...I had given up on this thread a while ago. It's some sort of built-in Yamaha card...hope that helps.
