Which brand of CD-R is the best? I've seen memorex, imation, PNY. Which brand name should I get? Does it really matter?

I don't think it really matters, I know theres some freaks that will argue with me though. I always get the cheapest spindle of 80 min / 700 mb CD-Rs. I burn CDs daily and have never had a problem with any of the brands you mentioned.

Supposedly, for durability, (if you handle the CDR's a lot) the ones with the thick coating are Mitsui and Kodak Ultima. I know guys who are Karaoke DJ's and these are the ones they recommend.

From my experience, TDK makes the best CD-Rs for the price.
I haven't had one bad burn with them (not counting human error) and they can be read by almost everything.
They're hella durable too.
