Hi, I recently picked up some cheap 128MB PC133 SDRAM but then it occured to me that the old RAM in my machine is PC100. Is that going to be a problem? how about in terms of performance?
Thanks in advance
It should not be a problem if your cpu is running at a 100 front side bus speed. The PC133 SDRAM will be running at 100Mhz.

no probs everythign will work fine
the newer ram will be downgraded to run at the older one's speed instead of 133 it'll run 100
what type of moboard you have?
it might be a good idea to take out the old ram and get the new ram to run at 133

My motherboard is an IWill vd133.. I think somewhere I have an older system with a stick of PC133 SDRAM, I'm kinda lazy to go find it though...
But would it be wiser to run my computer with 2x 128MB PC133 SDRAm vs 1x 128MB PC133 + 2x 128 PC100 SDRAM ?

it's kinda hard to say
depends what you do
if your constently using up most of your ram then take more ram over speed of ram
if you don't always or barely ever use up all you ram then go for speed
for games cas latency will amke a difference too
if you can get together 256 megs of 133 ram i'd say take out the 100 and just leave the 133 in there
