Don't do double rebates at Staples anymore

I don't know who posted that you could get a rebate from Staples AND from the manufacterer, but apparently you can't. I got in on the Visioneer scanner deal, 30 MIR from Staples, 30 MIR from Visioneer. I got this message today:

"We apologize for the misunderstanding, but your rebate is invalid because this promotion allows only one rebate per item per household. A postcard acknowledging your invalid reason will be mailed to you."

Apparently visioneer and staples use the same rebate processor, so they know. Anyone else get this message?

Staples ITSELF was the one who posted the double rebate. I bought the scanner in the B&M store. There was a large sign that said $30 manufacturer rebate and $30 Staples rebate. The weekly sale ad confirmed this. As a matter of fact, each scanner box had BOTH rebate coupons taped by a Staples customer service rep when the scanners hit the selling floor.

Now they are NOT going to honor it??? I haven't received any email from them, but if I do, I plan on challenging it.

just to tell you that i have gotten the double rebates so far from staples and visioneer. at first i was wondering why i got as of right now 5 rebates, when i only bought 3 scanners, but i remembered that one is staples and one is visioneer, so i am waiting for one more

I got a double rebate once form them on a monitor. The monitor (a 17") was like $150. I used a $40 off $150 coupon. Their ad was originally for a single $50 off rebate, but when I searched their rebate center there was a $50 and a $60, so I sent both in.
I ended up getting both rebates. So I got a 17" monitor for tax. PRetty groovy I thought.

I know, pointless story, but i thougth I would share.

I received both of my rebates. I would take copies of everything into your local store and ask (nicely) the manager to honor the additional rebate as advertised.

I just looked up my rebates, I got $30 from Staples And $20 from Visioneer. Maybe it was a different deal, you did send in two different rebate forms didn't you? (1 from Staples and 1 from Visioneer)

I received both of my $30 rebates from Visioneer and Staples within the last week so it worked for me. I would raise hell on that one if they are trying to bend you over.

Alright, I got support. Yes, I did send in two separate rebate forms. However, it was visioneer who sent the message. Do you guys think Staples would help me with it since they have paid their rebate, but visioneer refuses to pay theirs? Thanks.

I had the same problem with double rebates some time back. Just called up the 800 number to the rebate center (on the rebate form itself) and told them about their mistake. They asked me to fax them another copy of the filled up rebate form and the upc, which I did. I got my rebate within 2 weeks.
Since that day, whenever Im buying some item that has a double rebate, I save the promotion sheet from the store, just in case they decide to reject my rebate. I can then show them promotion leaflet if they reject my rebate form, and make them pay me my money.

I have taken in my copies of rebates that weren't paid by a manufacturer to my local store and they have paid them. Be sure to bring everything you have including the response from Visioneer. Staples made the offer and should back up the rebate. As always, ask nicely, it works better than demanding!
