I'm sure some of the old-timers here remember Accompany.com, which became Mobshop.com. Man, I was sure that was going to be a huge hit. It's still a really good idea, if executed right.
I looked Mobshop up, just for nostalgia's sake, and it's turned into a boring ol' demand aggregation B2B site. Dammit, the companies always get to have the most fun!
If any business model is going to make a comeback, I'm betting on this one: if the Internet is good at two things, it's information transmission, and bringing complete strangers together.
BTW, Volumebuy seems to be the only survivor, and their site sucks, but their movie tix are good n' cheap. I think Apex has a link on the front page for them.
