View Full Version : Which has been the best deal of all?

I was just wondering what people's opinions were as to the best of all the many excellent deals we've learned of via this website.

Some might maintain that the best of the year so far has been the free Cybiko deal. But Office Depot's "$20 off $20 purchase" fiasco of a couple of months ago has to be a strong contender, too. Last year's free HP932 printer (the eStamp deal) was a winner for many. And these few examples barely scratch the surface.

So, what is your vote for "Best Apex deal of 2001 (to date)?" And "Best Apex deal ever?"

My vote goes for the Office Depot $20 off of $20 deal. The cybiko was nice, but I would have never bought it with my own money. The Office Depot deal left me with some quality items I would have definitely purchased.

My vote goes to that horrible Staples fiasco last year....you know the one with all those coupon codes...

I personally didn't get anything, but a friend of mine ended up with a leather chair and desk for like 40 cents....

Without a doubt the C2IT & credit card reward scam. I got over $1,600 in Amazon.com gift certificates and a bunch of frequent flyer miles from the deal.

I think all the elements are still up & running, so if you missed out on the other deals you can still get in on this one.

After that the HP930c and the $250 GC from CORE bank. I still have that GC, just need to find something I want at OfficeMax.

Care to elaborate on the C2IT & credit card reward scam, AH3000? What is still up and running? I would hate to miss out on such an opportunity.

WOW, that's one hell of a thread. And the deal is on the deal/scam borderline, but if that's what you have to do :)

So, AH3000, are you still doing this, and is this still valid? You would have thought that someone would have found this out and stopped it by now, with some sort of restriction. Let me know, because I would love $1600 in Amazon CG's. Also, you said that Amazon has the no points for cash transfer stipulation, but they gave it to you anyway. How does that work? Thanks in advance...

I got a 17" monitor for tax from staples afterthey gave me two rebates and a coupon. That was sweet.
Also got the Nomad, that wasn't too shabby either.

I also got some free CDs out of the blue, whichI am not sure how I got. That was nice as well.

I've used up my free 3 months so I'm not doing it anymore. Yes there is a restriction, but they didn't enforce it for either of our 2 accounts. The other card, which was from MBNA, also awarded every reward point.

After the statement is posted online, you just go to their site and request the gift certificates. They immediately issue them to you online.

The thread at FW has quite a few posts about the ethics of this deal. I maintain that there is nothing at all questionable about doing this.

As long as you give them the correct info when you sign up, and don't sign up under more than one ssn, then everything is legitimate and kosher.

If they decide to change the rules, that's their right. But as long as they don't, there's nothing wrong if you adhere to them and get "free money."

I see absolutely nothing that even hints at a "scam".

All the companies involved were aware of what I was doing because they also contacted me to question the dozens of $500 transfers. I told them they were all authorized and that was that.

I have no idea if the deal is still valid, although a friend of mine is in month 2, has just got some Amazon stuff, and hasn't told me of any changes.

It seems like the FW thread would be a good place to ask about the current status.

Like any other deal, check out the details and decide for yourself if it's worth your time and efforts.

I really can't add much more than that and what's already ben posted by others at FW.

I'd say the free $78 million submarine was the best deal...or at least it would have been if they had honored the deal.

I remember going through some site to place an order at Hardware Street that involved a $30 rebate. HWS canceled the order cause the item was mispriced but I still got the $30. Free money is always the best deal. :D

The free HP930C printer will always have a special place in my heart :)

I heard about the deal from the Lockergnome newsletter that included a link to DVD Talk. I immediately bought the package and just in time - because they pulled the deal early when the tens of thousands of Lockergnome readers starting jumping on it.

Anyway, that link was my first glimpse into the world of "internet deals" and to sites like gotapex.com. Everyday since then I check the deal boards so I don't miss a thing!

Nomad was an ok deal but remember:

1. You spent $50 on some tunes already.
2. The nomad came with only 32mb.

But there's more!

Remember the Music Duo combo from hpshopping?

Well, they advertised 2 months of eMusic.com free. When I got the combo on April 2, I found out that the offer expired on March 31. I got pissed and called HP, they said they will sort it out. After 2 months they call me and say that there's no more eMusic deal but I can either get $30 check or a free Rio 500. Got it fedexed overnight too. I love HP!

I got on the Nomad last year too, but this was a better deal! Two 64MB Rio500s, 8x HP9150 cd burner and 10CDRs for $190 shipped!

So...I love HP and EMusic too!

My favorite had to be the Lechters 50% off coupon. It was like printing cash. Sure you had to spend money, but what a deal! I went broke I saved so much! BTW, I still use that coupon every so often at LnT. BBB are hardnose now on every competitors coupon. Joe
