View Full Version : Best hangover relief?

I figured that this might be a good weekend thread as well since a lot of us will be throwing a couple back this weekend. I find that the most effective way to relieve a torrid hangover(besides sleep) is a nice stiff Clamato. This is how I like to make it:
Pour premade Clamato mix into a tall glass with ice.
Add pepper
Add tobasco - I take about 10 drops but you just do as much as you can handle.
2 drops of Worstechire sauce
and, if you like, a half a shot of Vodka.
That's it. This concoction has brought me back from the dead on many a Sunday. Anyone else have some good hangover reliefs?

The thought of Clamato makes me sick. Who thought up that idea -- clam juice and tomato juice??? Yuck!!!
Go for a Bloody Mary.
Actually the best remedy is 2000mg of Vit. C, ice-tea, followed by a Gatorade chaser, and for some reason, Hot & Sour soup.

i know it is terribly un-pc, but the best cure for a hangover (and you can check the actual medical journals for evidence) is a small quantity of alcohol - about equivalent to a beer. just a single beer or shot with breakfast.
also good:
before you go to bed, drink at least a quart of water.
this will destroy your kidneys if you do it with any regularity, but take a couple aspirin/tylenol with the quart.
sleep in as long as you possibly can.
take a shower in the morning.
eat something - whatever sounds good. for me, its the same food that was good for morning sickess - anything really cold (popsicles, ice cream, milkshakes) really hot (soup, tea) or really spicy (anything that holds salsa well, like a bean burrito)
also, if you have any friends in the medical field, a saline i.v. works miracles - rehydration at its most efficient and effective.

Yeah, watch out with Tylenol when drinking. There have been several reports of acetameniphine (sp?) causing liver failure when taken when the body is trying to metabolize alcohol. Don't know if it is the same with asprin or ibuprofen, but nothing works better than BC Headache Powders.

ummmmmmm....the best i can come up with is: just drink the good stuff
lay off the cheap stuff usually works for me...along with the drinking water thing b4 bed. then you just have to pee like spectacular bid
MENUDO!!! Great stuff. If you can find strong menudo then you're set. (for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about it's a mexican soup that is hot and contains beef tripe and corn seeds? Don't know what you call them.) Goes right to the sinuses and amazingly is great for hangovers. Kinda hard to find some times but look around at mexican restaraunts.
For you latino people out there you know what I'm talkin about. ;)

my most successful hangover solution has been a smoothie from Juice Appeal on Telegraph in Berkeley...
less than a block away from my room...

I always used to hear that expression "have some hair of the dog that bit you". But in all honesty, nothing cures a hangover better than tons and tons of water, or plain ol grape koolaid on ice.

If you can stomach it, before going to sleep/passing out:
Glass of water
Glass of orange juice
half a hershey bar
couple of tylenol
Helps your body heal while you sleep! If you're feeling a bit queasy, I don't suggest this, maybe some pepto, wait a half hour, take the above, then pass out.

Alka Seltzer, straight up. My head and stomach feel fine the instant I swallow it...
