hmmm... Pricewatch has these for $129 + s/h, so 12 X 12.95 = $155.40. Nope - I think I'll pass on this one too.
Dang, whatever happened to the days of emusic's "Buy $50 worth of crappy MP3's, get a free MP3 player!" ???
Those were the days...

I got this deal around 6 months ago, and I must say I think its a better deal. The reason being that only do you get the mp3 player, but you also get the audio books.
My original intent was just to go for the mp3 player, but I must admit I like listening to a good book on my way to work and through traffic!

I think it's 2 books per month.

Correct. The light listener program you only get two books a month. If you really love books you can always upgrade... For some people it is really worth it. I wish I could get one of these bad boys for free. I could use it for all the free audible content I get.

If you're looking for the occasional free book, try http://www.audible.com/pocketclub, where they usually have one free book and several marked-down selections.
If you already have one Audible-ready player, you could take advantage of the Rio deal or a similar Cassiopeia Pocket PC + mulimedia card deal, sell the device on eBay, and clear about enough cash to pay for your subscription. Your net would be 24 "free" audiobooks.
Looks like the deal is dead now.
They have the Rio for 49$ now after rebate.
