kay, so you've had a few weeks to soak in Lateralus. what's your favorite all-time Tool tune?

Me, I gotta say the live version of "Push It" that's floating around. Kickass tune - it really showcases some great vocals and gets just plain ferocious at the end.

Their Peach cover "You Lied" is also a bad ass tune.

The live version of Pushit (its one word, not two) from Salival you mean?

I was just gonna post this same topic. After about 10 listens, Third Eye is probably my favorite, but there are so many good ones. Opiate is my favorite song off that album, Undertow and prison sex are classics. From aenima, H. is unbelievable, especially live. Up until recently, my gig of metallica mp3s was my leader, now I have more than that of tool boots, heh.

EDIT: forgot to comment on Lateralus: geez, its awesome. The Grudge is amazing, there are some great metal sounds towards the end of The Patient, Parabol* is probably my favorite, Ticks and Leeches is good, kind of a Master of Puppets type split up there, and Lateralu/is is also a keeper

My fav is the live Pushit also. I think I was actually at the Red Rock's concert that it was recorded at. Best concert I've ever been to by far.

some kind of temporary sanity
in this shit blood and come on my hands

best lyric. best song is sober, no contest.

there's a shadow just behind me
shrouding every step i take
making every promise empty
pointing every finger at me

strong lyrics. a rarity.

Y2J - you gots an ftp er what? :naughty: lost ALL my mp3's recently due to a particularly nasty HDD crash

i gotta concur with all the songs mentioned so far. great stuff.

i've been hooked on shoutcast for the past few days. can't believe the quality of the stuff on there. found out that toolshed.down.net also streams "Toolgasm," all Tool, all the time :) 128 bit rate, too

From memory, I think the booklit that comes with Salival mentions where the songs where recorded, but it doesn't say which songs are from where. I don't have it here with me at work, otherwise I'd look at it closer.

Haven't been into Tool much lately. But when I was listening to lots of it, I always liked Swamp Song and 4 Degrees off of Undertow.

I wouldn't know where to start as far as favorite. It's too damn hard. If I had to pick one it'd be Eulogy. Simply because of the message. Right down the ole' alley. So many more come to mind, damn. . . .

I'm shocked that there are so many Tool fans at G|A. Awsome.

As far as Lateralus, My favorite so far is either, Parabol, or maybe even, Lateralis itself- Track #9 - stunning message.

And maybe it'll interest you to know that track 13, the song with the incecent ranting man, talking about UFOs? Well that is a recording from the Art Bell show, "Coast to Coast A.M. with Art Bell" It's of a whistle blower from Area 51, making crazy claims, but the interesting thing is that when this was recorded live, the satalite fu**ed up and the caller was cut off. Hmmmm Hmmmm? Interesting . . . .

Y2J, can I access your files somehow, I can trade you my FTP with gigs of Music and full porn movies. lol Seriously, please?!

Wait.. Ya mean, you people have Tool and porn and you're not sharing?! Jayzus, come on! :)

Yeah, I read that about track 13 as well. Interesting stuff. Did you also read that a similar "malfunction" occured on the anniversary of that broadcast? Where the hell did I read that, anyway?

BTW, Toolgasm is apparently down for good. I was listening the other day and Winamp stopped playing. A little message scrolled across saying "Toolgasm is going down. Go out and buy the records." Sucks bigtime! What's weird too is that it's not run by toolshed.down.net -- I wrote to Kabir and he had no clue what I was talking about! Ah well, Exit Stage Left Radio is still kicking!

Have you heard the entire clip? the guy calls the show back, and says he was just kidding and explains it all.

thanks to DSL, I dont really have the bandwith to send 3 1/2 gigs of tool at any reasonable speed, since my upload is capped at 128k

Man! I can't believe that call was a hoax! Now it bastardizes the whole, sorta, spacey vibe the album was giving me. That blows nuts.

With them trying to be so mythical, and into the occult, various other "weird" things you'd think they'd want to keep the whole mistik (sp?) going. The web site should've said that. BTW, I read the story on their site, in their newsletter from a few months ago.
