I have seen it all now. I am in the wrong business. If I could sell 40 URLs a day I would be rich.

wouldn't it be better to just have a bunch of people contact the winning bidder and split the cost for the info?

No I think a better thing to do is for two people to set up two Ebay accounts and then bid these jerk's auctions up to thousands of dollars. You of course don't pay and then these jerks will have to pay Ebay auction fees based on the final price. Then they will have the headaches of disputing the charges with Ebay which takes over a month. Then they will learn to stop taking advantage of people by misleading them.

With all the success of people selling PS2 "boxes", this is to be expected I suppose. Sadly, this is completely legal (although highly unethical) under eBay rules.

This makes me mad. How pathetic can you be ... selling LINKS to products, times I wish for a baseball bat and the seller's home address.

i think that the ppl that bid on these urls are really stupid. thus deserve to get ripped off. and the ppl that auction the urls are smart and clever and should be rewarded $5.00-:deal:-$157.50. just my opinion. :D

Who peed in your wheaties Roboo7?
I think it's obvious these people are making the honest mistake that they are bidding on the actual product. Personally I dont want people who are new to Ebay to get burned, they are potential buyers of my, yours and eveyone elses future auctions. And needless to mention they will tell all their friends and anyone who will listen how they got riped off on ebay and not to use ebay!

Agree with roboo7... Don't these people READ the description of what they're bidding on before taking it up to 100-something dollars?! Like... helloooo... this is eBay we're talking about... USED products? (let alone, just plain links to ones)... BUT.. on the otherhand.. the seller is smart... They're clearly stating that the auction is for a URL to the product... Kinda makes me wanna start an auction to buy a picture of my car for $1000... and if people bid on it... well.. stupid them!

$14,999.
Someone got a tickler (gotApexer?) I think that comes down to like ~$180 charges on ebay.
Sucks to be the seller on these.

Haha... great work whoever it was that bid that up to $15k. Now he will have to dispute the Ebay charges which you can't even do for 15 days or so. It should be more then enough of a pain in the ass that this guy won't do it again.
I sell on Ebay once and awhile and anything dishonest that happens makes it a bad place for those of us that play by the rules.

Here I thought this was so stupid so here is a link to a place that sells those graphics cards and it is more than 349.00, but you do not have to pay for the link.

I have to say, as a VERY periodic ebay bidder, that idiots like this DO negatively impact the viability and quality of Ebay as a place to do business. I mean, the very idea of Ebay is that a) lots of people will be looking at your auction and b) it's a place where things are being sold on the up and up. This sort of grey-area trickery only serves to undermine the second, which directly affects the first.
Those who support the "well, he's advertising it pretty clearly" angle are quarter-wits. What positive can come of this?

4 retractions on one of these!! Plus two cancellations.
Wow. People need to read more carefully.
Also, my interpretation of Ebay rules is that you CANNOT retract if you misread the listing (as long as it didn't change). The bidders should also be sanctioned.
Also, TheNerds.net and PCMall both have it at 365 (look it up on MySimon)

Damnit.. the guy wised up and rejected the bids. If anyone else has bogus Ebay accounts, teach this jerk a lesson. He's selling information that he got from free from sites like this. It's crap.

The description may be very misleading... Wording can trick many people... obviously the guy is trying to trick people into bidding so he is going to make it vauge as to what he is selling even though it seems clear to us, it may not seem clear to newbies or people who really want the product. With all those pictures and description and the fact that some people don't even know what a URL means (just as people not knowing what OEM means) can make people bid on it.

this is absolutely hilarious! This is as bad as the lady working the returns counter at my local Lowe's store. She has to check returned cans of paint and stain because some morons like to either use some of it and fill the rest up with water and return it or they empty the contents and then fill it up with water. Who would have thought of doing something that immoral?

Did you see the list of retractions? What an asswhole.
I just fear the aol guy actually bid on the thing thinking he was going to get a 64mb GeForce2 for $5.
look at the seller's feedback. Not only are all of the links to the Auctions nonexistant, 5 of them are on the same day. This guy's a loser. Not only that, for half of the dude's feedback, you can't see THEIR feedback. eek.

I would say it is probably a bad idea, as it is supposed to be a legal transaction, yada yada yada, and they can leave feedback for you if you screw it up.

If you don't care about negative feedback, feel free to bid super high....but just make sure to do it RIGHT before the auction ends!!! Or else I think they can retract it.
