This isn't exactly legit, but it worked.
I opened it up realised i didn't want this POS so i started calling retailers up . I said that i had asked for a PDA for graduation and that's what i had received (not what i had in mind). Since it was a graduation present i didn't have a receipt but wanted in-store credit. I tried Best Buy, but they were being uncommiting to giving me credit and compusa said they didnt have it in stock anymore. So i called Staples who was in fact selling it. Went in gave them the story and they gave me a cash card for $96 in exchange for my 3 hour old Cybiko (i'm not sure it even worked cause i may have broke it).
I then pondered buying the Palm M100 for 30+tax after giving them the cash card, but decided to go home to think it over. Once home i went to buy.com found the Rio Volt for $131 and printed a copy of that and brought it back to staples to get a price match. They told me they needed shipping info so i had to go home to get a copy of the shipping costs for the Rio Volt.
When i got back they asked for next-day shipping instead of the ground that i had brought a copy of (he was being vague on what shipping he needed on purpose). I candidly said it was $11 instead of the actual $18, so they took my word for it. On top of the price match i had a 15 off 100 purchase coupon that they had e-mailed me which was valid in store. So i added that into my already deep discount making my total of about $40 for a Rio Volt that normally costs $170. If you're wondering they never got any information about where i live or a phone #, all they asked for was my signature.
It took a bit of arguing between me and the manager (including him telling me he doesn't have to sell me the cd player and calling me a smart aleck), but i got the deal done.
Just an idea,
