my little sister is so GOD DAMN STUPID!!!!! if it wasn't for the 80 miles seperating us.. i'd kick her ass SO HARD!!!

let me give you some background history....

I tell her 'take out the cd-rom'

what does she do? she trys to pull it off the computer.. WHILE it is still on... i saw her tugging on the power cord... and i yell 'WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!"

she looked at me dumbfounded.. and says 'huh?'

so... for the last couple of days.. i've been trying to send her an image (80 megs) so she can print for my mom... after crashing AIM like 100 times.... i finally decide to convert the PSD to a jpg... so i bring it down to 17 megs!

I successfully send it over.. while I'm writing my lab report .... so.. i notice that the download finished about 45 minutes ago....

this is how the conversation went:
"did you print it out?"
"print what out?"
"the file I just sent you"
"was it a ZIP?"
"NO STUPID! it was a JPG!"
"It hasn't downloaded yet... this takes forever!"
"What do you mean it hasn't downloaded yet? It finished like an hour ago on my end!"

no answer

"Dude.. it's not downloading.. it hasn't moved"
"whats not downloading? what the hell are you doing!?"
"the pic.. when I click on it.... nothing.. GO AWAY!"

"listen.. the download finished from my end a long time ago..."
"DUDE YOU'RE SO STUPID!when you click on the pic.. it DOWNLOADS from the SITE!"

"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! SPEAK ENGLISH! WHAT SITE?!? I sent you a god damn picture!"

"It's not downloading on it yet you fucking freak!"

"SPEAK ENGLISH! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING TO ME ABOUT!"
"listen.. it hasn't loaded yet..it takes FOREVER!"

"DOWNLOADING isn't the same as LOADING.. how are you so STUPID?!"


"what are you loading it in?"
"no... i go read...i'll do this later..."

then I EXPLODED ON HER....
this is what she ended with
"you need to control yourself.."

and then she signed off!!

WHY OH WHY IS SHE SO STUPID!!! how AGRAVATING!!!!!!!

no, seriously, i do understand... but she obviously doesn't "get" computers, so she needs a little help... and WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU wasn't helpful.

my suggestion: don't ever ask her to do anything for you that involves a computer.

it's a 40 meg GIF and an 80 meg PSD...

i made a certificate for my mom... that she needs 4 times a year.....

it's made in layers.... and is black and white.. i need to have it basically the size of the page..

thats why it's so damn big!

it's not postage thats the problem... my printer doesn't have enough ram to support a file that big...

i solved the problem by buying a 32 meg stick for it... which comes in a couple of days.....

i just ended up faxing the damn thing..

Would you mind me asking how old your sister is? And what kind of connection they have? She asked if it was a ZIP file, so she kinda knows a little bit acout computers.

You know I have created some huge ass art pieces in photoshop before and none were ever 80 MB. Also when you convert it to a JPG the layers are lost, so it should be a lot smaller than 17 MB. The only thing that I can think of is that you are sending a series of JPG's.

If you were sending the file as a PSD then obviously your family has some kind of software that can read PSD's. If this is the case, make the image size a lot smaller, then when your moms gets the picture she can increase the size to the size she needs with the same software that she reads it with. Just tell her to increase it to 8" x 11" and to print it landscape if she needs to.

You know another thing you could do is upload it to some free web hosting site, then have them download it from there. It might help in the file transfer. Otherwise if there is a Kinko's close by to your family you can just have it sent there. I have done that before.

The damn thing crashes if i look at it the wrong way. I swore a long long time ago that i would never use it and to this day i have managed to stay away from it. ICQ on the other hand...

I've made 3ft x 5ft size presentation posters in photoshop at 300dpi resolution. The files get as big as 250-300 megs!! When you change the smallest thing (color, trimming) it takes like 20 minutes to process :D But looks awesome printed....

i can sympathize w/u about your sister... my sister isn't too much better either. it took me about 20 minutes to explain to them how to upload something from a disk onto the harddrive so that they could send me the file as an attachment in an e-mail....sometimes it does a helluva lot of patience with non-techie ppl

also why did you try sending hte 80mb file via icq? i have transfered like 700mb over icq before..took awhile but it went thru

myself being the least techy in my EXTREAMLY geeky family, my brother is constantly yelling at me for something or another about the computers.

if you were nice, you would teach them a little bit at a time, so they could understand what you're talking about. you didn't just one day wake up with all the knowledge you now have. so why don't you just chill?

i'm sure she has done plenty of nice things for you, and when you didn't understand she didn't have a heart attack. or maybe she did, but that is just cause you guys don't ever pay attention!

she is 19.....

and has had her OWN pc.. which i taught her how to build.. for the last 3 or 4 years.. he is pretty internet savvy... but just really stoopid sometimes....

i obviously flattened the image when I converted it to JPG... but.. umm.. getting my MOM not MOMS to even TRY to convert the size.. would be a bigger head ache!

either way.. i printed it out.. and faxed it.. so she lost quality.. but oh well

as for ICQ... it sucks ASS... i have had NOTHING but problems when i transfer over ICQ.... AIM isn't any better... but oh well...

I have pacbell DSL... i have Roadrunner set up at home.....

as for styleee..... i have a simple proof for you.. something your brother should have explained a long LONG time ago....
