Really, though? Who's gonna want an old Diamond Stealth 2000 card? Or who's gonna want an old WD 850 MB HD (pretty big!)? Any suggestions on wat to do w/ 'em? I feel bad just trashing working parts.... :(

keep em... buy yourself an h-card, delooper (is that what they are called?? maybe anti-looper?)
do some search on forums... and buid yourself a descrambler for satellite!

should cost about $400 in hardware... but you DO get 900 channels...

i just store them... and in times of need.. always have them handy... like.. when my computer FRIED.. and so did my video card.. i had n s3 virge laying around!

just put em in a box.. and throw em somewhere....

You could donate them to charity and get a nice chunk of tax to write off. A lot of old computers can be converted to network terminals to be used in schools that need them. You could probably boost your karma that way too.

I know there is some program where you donate old PC's here in SD. I'm not sure about anywhere else though.

yeah, i have the bad habit of saving all my pc stuff. I just can't imagine throwing away something i paid so much for. ebay isn't worth my time on most of them (4 bucks?? pshhh the shipping costs more). Some of it on the otherhand has actually come in handy, made me a nice linux box with my old computer. The main hard drive is 1 gig heh and the second drive i just added is my old 8 gig drive packed full of mp3's. Since the computer serves as a router/server i put all my media files on it so all the computers on the network have access to them. I should really get a bigger drive so i can put ALL my files on it but i guess that will just have to wait.

hapoo is pretty right on there. if you don't wanna build a linux box, you can check your local lug (linux user group, not that you didn't know...but for those that don't). those lug folks usually go wild for that stuff, and you may get a fair price or trade.

A cool thing to do is get a hot glue gun or if you really want to make a statement use Duck tape and hang them on the wall. That is what I did with a lot of my junk I hung it on the wall of my dorm room. Lots of ppl asked WTF is that and why is it on your wall. (I also had some Bass (Fish) Party light hanging up in my room as well … it makes a Statement. Not sure what kind of statement, but a statement nonetheless.

Also I took some of the really neat looking junk and hung it up in my office. But only take the good stuff like 8” Floppy disks and parts of TRS80’s and those 300 baud modems with the metal housings are good for the office as well … they make good door stops. You can take the cover off a 110MB hard (or any hard drive for that matter) drive and use it as a really cool paperweight.

Seriously another use I have for small HD’s is I use them as a Down load drive I store MP3’s on them until I get enough for a full CD then I burn them to CDR and delete them to make room for more…. You may be thinking why would I want to do this when I already have a large Hard drive well there is some logic behind my madness … this prevents my large HD from getting so fragmented there for allowing my PC to run better. Smaller hard drives make good FTP drives too. Keeps your pc cruising long at a good pace if someone is downloading a large file

a linux box is actually a really cool idea! since i'm gonna upgrade my bro's box, i'll have plenty of parts. hell yea, my summer is looking pretty good! :D
