Who has a PC in your kitchen?

I've been looking for one, but I can't seem to find the right one.

I'd like one that I can use for contacts, e-mail, quick web surfing, appointments, etc. Here's the thing - I want it to be small, running a non-proprietary OS, LCD screen, with wireless LAN capability.

I'd prefer one that's currently being manufactured & sold, but I've been looking at hacked iOpeners (too big) and the 3Com Audrey (proprietary OS). I'd really like this one, but I'm afraid it'll be like $1500 - http://www.cmiworldwide.com/flipscreen/index.html.

Can anyone suggest one? Anyone have one that they love/hate?

Audrey died a few months after introduction and 3Com in a classy move gave customers their money back.

Uh...yeah. Just get one of those shrinkwrappers and shrinkwrap the keyboard and cut some holes in the back of the plastic.

It'll look a little ghetto, but it'll sure as hell be way more functional than the things you're looking at.

Wow... i thought *I* was internet addicted. I guess you haven't gone over the edge until you have a computer in your kitchen.

Yeah, a laptop would work, but I'd prefer something with a touch screen that I can just stand on the counter or mount to the wall or something. I don't want to use the keyboard unless I have to.

Plus, I like the 'instant on' of internet appliances. The Audrey would be ideal if it were running CE...

I was at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Fran a month or two ago, and there were several vendors that had tiny little CE devices propped up like little picture frames. No keyboards, just an ethernet connection. Now THAT would be ideal, but I can't find anyone who makes them. The one vendor I asked said they were demo units they use to show off their software, and he didn't even know where they got them.
