I am planning to buy a few items from Staples.com using one of their coupons. I plan on buying a couple of different stuff just to try them out, which would bring my total to $200+ before using a $40 coupon. Then I will return all the stuff I didn't like after trying them out to a local Staples B&M, which would bring the total to below $200. My question is: Will Staples revoke the $40 coupon when I return the stuff?
I would really appreciate any info and I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.
thanks

When you buy online you get a packing slip, not a receipt. The packing slip doesn't show any coupons used. When you return something to the B&M, just take your packing slip with you. It's worked for me!

This same thread was locked on A**tech, for the same reason it should be locked here. This is FRAUD, plain and simple.

This isn't Anandtech forums. Here you can post coupon codes and ask deal like questions without getting shutdown by the gestapo (a.k.a. Anandtech moderators). And here you even get to pick your own password so you can remember it when you want to post. Summary: Anandtech sucks, GotApex doesn't.

Hope you don't plan on using your credit card... :nono: ...because you might just end up in court :smash:

Doesn't change the fact, donxyz is advertising the fact that he is planning on defrauding Staples. He is only ordering the products to get the $ off, then he is planning on returning the same products for a profit. If he is on the up and up he will bring in his order confirmation as his receipt and let the Staples personnel deal with it. Note that they may give him a full refund for the returned items, but at least then he did the right thing.

Actually, I never thought of it as downright fraud when I first posted this. I was not planning on buying 5 things and then return all 5 of them just for the sole purpose of getting the coupon value. If that is how people interpreted the post, then my apologies to those people.

....when Staples eats a return because of the kinds of things you describe, they have to increase price to cover (ahem) "shrinkage."
So, please do not use Staples.com to *try* things. Circuit City and Best Buy want you to play around with things and they will frequently take things out of their packaging so you can if they don't have a floor model.
Again, for what it is worth...please do not....

If you check your Staples packing slips carefully, the coupons which were applied appear at the bottom.
Also, your local Staples store may not take returns on items they do not normally stock.

Has anyone ever returned anything at a B&M store to have it credited back to a credit card? Someone must have right? My question is, how long does it take for them to credit you back? Shouldn't it be immediate? I have had 2 returns in the past 3 weeks. One was 2 weeks ago. One was last week. This is the third week. I haven't seen a single cent of it credited back yet. Any comments?

I'd suggest that you contact staples. I hope you kept your return receipt. I've returned things on credit... no problems here.

What did you want to "try out". May some of us can help you determine if it is a good product or point you in the right direction to how to find out more information about it.
