View Full Version : Trillian: the IM consolidator

So I've always said the guy that can get all of these disparate IM clients (ICQ, AIM, MSN Messenger) was going to make a mint. Imagine, consolidating all that message traffic!
So my co-worker stumbled on a program called Trillian, which was allegedly released two days ago. It does just that: aggregates ICQ, MSN, AIM, etc. Anyone used it, or has any experience with it? He's downloading it now, and if I wasn't so busy, I'd give it shot myself, but I just wanted to know if I was the only one who didn't know about this.

Well I never heard of it but worth a try I guess but I doubt It will last unless it is just something that runs all three at once.
The reason being that MSN had a huge fight with AOL when MSN offered the ability to sign on to AIM on MSN Messagner and seeing that ICQ is now part of AOL and MSN and AIM are from big companies, this software might get burnned... but as I said before that if this reuires all three installed beforehand the way powerAIM and ICQplus works then it might work well.
But I do encourage you to try it out and report back on how well it works. what is the website to d/l it?

Works nicely!
Basically runs all three at the same time, but it pretty slick, and looks nice.
Also skinnable.

hmm i like my icq skin though.. does it have all the features of ICQ for ICQ users? I use active lists sometimes and also the sounds and stuff I really like and the chat option is something i use often also..

I used it awhile back and it constantly crashed my system. I didn't like the load times and the icq features were lacking imho. But that was a beta version awhile ago and I haven't used the latest release.
i posted this! steal my fame... *sniff*...
LOL.. j/k
but yeah.. i did this post this a while back

This sounds like Odigo. Cept AIM hasn't found a way to block those ppl, yet. I tried Odigo, (it integrated ICQ, AIM, and Yahoo!) and when i finished all the d/ls and upgrades to it, AIM gave me a invalid client message, the same with ICQ.
Seems AIM doesn't want others connecting to their networks, unless you are using a "authorized client". It's also along the same lines of that AIMster is running into.

Will there be any software blocks to stop Trillian??

Trillian is purdy nice, but I'm still getting used to this thing. There are a ton of options, and so far the default and the WinXP skins look like something that should be on AOL or a Mac :puke:
It's definitely good though. I haven't had any problems connecting to yahoo!, ICQ, AIM or the G|A irc room. Haven't tried file transfers yet though.
