View Full Version : Creativity
For me, I'm at my most creative when I'm drunk. I love the creativity - I'm writing some really cool stuff - but I'm worried I might start drinking too much. I'm having trouble tapping into my creativity without getting drunk first. I've given up alcohol for now, but do I have any alternatives? Or do I have to choose between mediocrity and Kurt Cobains future?

I guess it depends what kind of work you do. I think creativity is overrated (then again I am the least creative person I know). If your job is to just take orders, lay off the booze. If you are a fiction writer, better join AA now.
Of course there are alternatives... :bandit: :)
it depends on my mood. i find that if i just start something and keep at it, ispiration will come. sometimes that inspiration sux, so i gotta let it go for a bit.
when i write music, i usually write my best stuff when i am in a good mood. unless i write a blues number...then it's when i am in a blue mood. but, again, i just start and then keep at it...then something comes eventually. if it doesn't, i don't sweat it, and just jam.
the times you gotta be careful with is when you are on the road and get that inspirational riff in your head. you gotta write it down, pronto. or use a tape recorder.
point is, i think, to not try too hard and it just comes. when you try too hard, it can come out ok...but sometimes it seems forced.
