Hey everyone -
I'm looking to get a new video camera - digital, if possible. Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice basic camera with long battery life? I'l like to keep it under $750, if possible. I already have a nice digital camera, so still picture capability is not necessary.
had two vhsc panasonic camcorders before, so had to get another panasonic digital, i believe the model # is PVDV150. it has the digital picture capability......would not want to use it since the resolution is terrible. this camera uses mini DV which has superb picture quality and sound compared to VHSC i had. i bought it when it first came out......found cheapest on the net at that time for around $600......now i believe you can get them down to $400 or $350.
i would consider that camera if you are on a lower budget. the physical size is much better than traditional. however if you want to spend your max budget, you can get the new smaller mega pixel Mini DV camcorder. one of my friend bought it and he really likes it. you can spend in the range of $750~1,000+++
sorry, please ignore my bla-bla-bla if it does not help you.............
I was and am impressed with JVCs Digital, MiniDV format Cameras.
I had a JVC GRDVM80U, and it was really nice. great features, 520 lines of resolution, and a very very affordable price. It has a very skimpy Digital still format, but like you said, you don't need it. that's why I went with it in the first place.
Now I have the upgraded to the GRDVM90U, same cam, just more expensivve due to the still picture function. You'll find that it's a great cam, the 80 model, and has more resolution than most cameras in the medium range.
Find a deal on it online then take the print out to sears and let them price match it for you. I think you can get it for around 600. Or liek I did with the 90 model, I got it from them for 750. muuuhaaahaaaa, it's on sale there now for 999.00
