How did it end up like this, it was only a desk, it was only a desk. (written o the tune of Wilkinsons - It Was Only A Kiss)
So earlier this summer I started to redo my living room and while walking around Ikea I found a desk that gave me a brilliant idea to make the place look cleaner and hide the PC. But unlike the images below, I didnt want the cloth pocket system for papers, I wanted to mount two LCD screens inside.

Sadly that cloth pocket thing is glued to the piece, and the desk was not big enough, so I decided to build my own.
This is an old photo early in the process, I'll have to upload more later.

The desk is finally nearing completion.
On Monday I finished gluing it together (used biscuits for construction) and threw in a few screws as a just in case. All that's left is redoing the stain on one top piece to make it match, as it came out too dark.
Yesterday I ordered an i7 laptop to fit inside the desk and drive the 2 LCDs, and today im on the lookout for an SSD to swap into that laptop.
Overall its been a pretty fun project, lots of researching, learning a bit more carpentry, spending time with dad, etc. The only downside has been cost, as now Im looking to build a FreeNAS box since I am running out of space and i cant fit a raid 1 in a laptop.
