Director is similar to Flash as it is also an animation program. However it is not vector based like Flash is. You can do a lot of the same things in both of softwares, however a lot of animation is easier to do in Flash than in Director because it takes fewer steps. Alot of people like to create animations in Flash, then use Director to create an interface for it. With Director you can use video, which I don't believe you can do with Flash.
Another cool thing about Director is that it has a very powerful and functional programming language behind it called Lingo that allows you to add powerful stuff to your interface.
Dreamweaver creates webpages, in which you can imbed Flash or Director objects.

EsDeeLoco's pretty much right on here.
Director is kind of like Flash on 'roids. However, learning one will certainly help is knowing the other. The cost of the two is different and the capabilities are different as well.
Dreamweaver is a WYSIWYG HTML editor. Of the WYSIWYG bunch, it's probably the lesser of all evils (though I don't have much experience with Adobe's offerings). What's nice is that it comes with Homesite, which is a great HTML editor, so you can clean up the bloated code afterward that Dreamweaver might produce. It's site management tools are pretty decent too.

Director should not be classified as Flash because its actually designed more for CDROM Multimedia development than it is for the web. It is much more sophisticated because of Lingo. And contrary to popular belief, it can now handle vector graphics. It can also be used with Cold Fusion servers. (Which is kind of cool if you ask me).
Flash doesn't have a true programing language, instead, it uses parameters and such. I find that most people who've used Director, dislike Flash because they aren't similar so knowing one doesn't mean it will help you know the other (sorry to contradict your statement ironchef).
Dreamweaver is your typical WYSIWYG as ironchef mentioned. Fairly easy to use, however, I do recommend being fairly familiar with HTML because Dreamweaver tends to add excess HTML code into your page. The latest version, Ultradev 4, is pretty much like MS Visual Interdev, but with Dreamweaver as its WYSIWYG HTML editor. (I wonder why MS didn't bother to incorporate Frontpage with Interdev). This new version basically allows you to update HTML and ASP pages right off your website.
Hope it helps.

Jihforce, what do you think about Actionscripting in Flash 5? Do you not consider it a true programming language? I'm not saying that it is, actually I have just started my transition into 5. But Actionscripting seems pretty powerful so far.
