What do think about these 2? they are both coming out next year! I want one!
Well, most specs and things are very similar between the two (EVO VII RS or GSR-4 and the WRX STi). However, I gotta say, the EVO is a LOT better looking. In fact, even the vast majority of the Scubby camp think the EVO is a lot better looking.

Well, considering the I'm-not-quite-as-ugly-as-the-M-coupe-but-I'm-trying look of the WRX, it shouldn't be hard for the EVO. I'm betting it'll be tough to pick up an EVO next year - better get on the waiting list ASAP!

BTW, the WRX was not always this ugly. Look at the last model:

The EVO has the same problem engine as found in the 2nd gen Mitsu Eclipse. About 1 in 10 engines have experience a walking crank. If your mitsu dealer will replace under warranty at all, it's still a big hassle, and if not, it's $6k per engine.
I'm also curious about what Mitsu will have to do to the Lanser to make it pass EPA regs. Subaru had to use 3 cats to get the emissions down.
It would be nice to get the European Evo 7 and WRX STi to the states with the 280+hp engines. The WRX we have does 0-60 in 5.8sec, the European edition does it in 4.6sec.
Just my thoughts.... I would be driving a WRX right now if dealers weren't marking it up 10% and forcing the $4k wheel option on you :-(

the front of the EVO looks like a cross between a Honda Accord Sedan and a Ford Mustang...
are they both 4WD??
yeah they are both 4wd.
on the styling note, i'll take the wrx. it is more distinctive. i loved the 2.5 rs, but it looked like a thousand other cars. the evo is cool, but most data to this point shows that they will probably chop down the horsepower when it comes to america, making it slower than the wrx. for me its really all about performance, so the wrx is definatley the only choice.

Man, if you guys subscribed to at least 8 car magazines a month like me, you'd know. Just kidding...but truthfully...the 7 isn't even officially planned for US Showing even though it was shown at the NY Auto Show.
For one thing, the Lancer Cedia platform that was introduced over 1 year ago is the basis for the vehicle, and has been designed from the outright to meet US regulations for crash safety. In terms of emissions, EPA regs aren't what you should be worried about, it's CARB that's the PITA....
That brings up an interesting thought, why doesn't companies like Mazda introduce the 626 Capella in the US instead of using the current 626, or honda use the british/japanese accord instaed of the larger ungainly american accord. But, those type of questions will never be answered as long as americans want bigger and bigger cars to fit their bigger and bigger.....

The Lancer is awesome so is the WRX hmm... but I prolly would go for the Lancer since the WRX is so ugly now... but I liked the older version of both the WRX and the Lancer more then the modern ones... but maybe these will grow on me :P

My pick would be the lancer (evo of course) but i think the chances of me getting either one of them when they first come out is next to nil !
why? the wrx is only $22,000-$25000 depending on which dealer you go to. that's pretty affordable.
Notice in this thread, we're talking about the WRX STi, not the garden variety.
Living in Washington State I've seen both the "real" WRX and the EVO. Having said that, I'd take whichever one was easier to get here in the US. Let's face it - both are just incredible performers, and each can be made to perform better very easily.
This comes down to the Camaro vs Mustang argument - it really doesn't matter which one is, ahem, "better", - it all comes down to what we think looks better. Which ever one you prefer -that's the one you should get.

IMHO i think the the EVO lancer looks like on the basis of what the new accord should have looked like! or at least the accord type-r, which by the way are we getting the '03 accord R this year?

Your kidding right? The 2nd Gen Eclipse's had Crankwalk, you had a better chance of getting Crankwalk if you had a manual AWD version or a Turbo manual FWD, the automatics did'nt get it as nearly as much. I believe Mitsu admitted that they had screwed up and that they knew crank walk was happening so the 97-99 cars have a reduced chance of crankwalk. So for something they know of and for something that they know for a fact might happen why would they put a crankwalk prone engine in a brand new 30K car? does'nt sound very logical does it? Please use good information before you start spewing BS
And ATT none of these cars are 4WD
