I haven't had a smoke in 2 years. This is good. :)
Been chewing Nicorette like crazy for the last 2 years. This is bad. :(
Quitting the gum is every bid as bad as giving up cigarettes. This is super bad. :( :(
I haven't had any nicotine in any form in 4 days. I'm trying to decide between murder and suicide.
Which will it be ? :(
Somebody tell me how long it will hurt. :(

Which will it be ? :(Murder. Then you can smoke all you want in prison :P j/k
Somebody tell me how long it will hurt. :(I don't think you want to know...Nicotine is more addictive than most things out there, including heroin. Cravings will come occasionally, but they will become less intense and less often as time passes. The trick is finding something to do when a craving hits. And keep thinking to yourself how much better off you are in the long run. Good luck!

you...you chew gum!
How could you!
Think of the children man! I don't want my kids exposed to your second hand cud!
Just say to yourself...hey, I can breath. Anything after that is cake.

but zyban works really well.
well, i should say really well for the nicotine side of smoking, not so well for actually breaking the habit of smoking.
i keep trying to quit, and i do good for a few weeks, and then i start smoking again. grrr. and then i try to quit again, and the cycle repeats.
ANYWAY, if it is really unbearable, try to get zyban / wellbuitrin, you will be amazed at how well it works.

I quit one time for close to 2 years. I quickly picked up the habit again when I thought I could be a "social smoker". Ha! That dont work... I thought about taking Zyban but my doctor recommended me against it. I have seizures/epilepsy in my family and for my medical genes so to speak my doc didnt think it would be a good idea for me to do. I do have a freind at work who did it and she's been smoke free for 7 months now. You can do it. Try making a list of all the good things that are out there that would deter you from wanting to slowly kill yourself or cut our pics of stuff that you could buy by saving the $4 a day habit. I'm still smoking so I cant say this has worked but it sounds good.
Best of luck!

Oh, that's great advice! First he's hooked on the cancer stix, then the nicotine gum (which I found morbidly hilarious, for some reason). Now you want to hook him on skin patches?
He's weak, woman, you can't tempt him like that!

BTW, good on ya for quitting smoking. My friend has been "quitting" since we graduated from high school. That makes it five years.

zyban (www.zyban.com) is an antidepressant PILL... or at least that is what it was first used for. i think it's realitivly new, anyway, many people began to stop smoking while on it, and then they figured out why.
Zyban triggers the same thing in your brain that nicotine does. so, you don't get all nic fitty, and you don't smoke. you have to take it for about a week before it builds up in your system, and, it also keeps you awake at night, but, it works.
and i tried the gum once, and it hurt my throat. and, i felt more strung out when i didn't chew a peice then i ever had when i smoked. i even told my sister (cause she convinced me to try it with her,) that if got addicited to it, she would be supporting my much more expensive habit ;) but alas, i just started smoking again.

Well, found a couple of places on the net that sell Zyban. Looks like about $160 for a one month supply (60 pills).
Cigs need to increase in price a tad more. :(

I feel your pain.
I have been trying to quit for the past couple of months.....bought the gum, ran out, started smoking again, repeat.....
I had a friend tell me about zyban, so I belive I am going to try that. My main problem is that my significant other smokes, and that makes it REALLY hard to quit.
My main problem is that whenever I go without nicotine for too long, I start wanting to fire all of my employees.....but thats not good, because then I would be an *******, and I would have to work by myself.....
Anyways, good luck.

Well, I've been completely nicotine free for 8 days nows. :)
Couple of observations :
1. Cravings don't get real bad untill the late afternoon like from 3:30 on. Mornings are craving-free. :)
2. I feel drained of energy AND will power. Damn, nic is some evil shit. :(
If anybody's interested, I get the gum from http://www.pharmacydirect.com/ in New Zealand. Takes about a week to arrive, doesn't have that stupid child-proof seal that's a bitch to get off in an emergency and is far cheaper than any place else I've found. (NOTE: they quote prices in NZ dollars so be sure to use the currency converter)

How about chewing regular gum as opposed to Nicorette, this way you'll still be chewing gum...hence, making it easier to wheen yourself away from Nicorette
