From CNN - "In a civil case that could have broad ramifications for how patients in pain are treated, a California jury Wednesday found a doctor liable for recklessness and abuse for not prescribing enough pain medication to a patient, who later died of cancer."
I am just outraged by this. First we are fed a system that largely refuses to pay the (unfortunately) high expenses to take care of us (HMOs, PPOs) so the doctors do their best to hold costs down within that framework. NOW one of these doctors gets sued, when it's the GD insurance companies that are to blame.
Granted, I don't know both sides of the story, but you can't have it boths ways people. Our doctors are human beings like the rest of us, and sometimes they make mistakes. To expect them to be perfect is absolutely ridiculous. I am so sick of hipocrisy I could just puke.
