My brothers and sisters of G|A, I need your help. I am throwing a party for my sister this Friday. She is turning 30 and so I want it to be a pretty memorable event, minus the pepper spray and police dogs. I was thinking either having a theme or maybe just having a bunch of cool drinking games to play. Or perhaps just party games. I know there are a lot of party people here, so any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

first, get a keg of a good beer
because drinking games are best played with beer, not liquer

...
Thats the extent of my planning

Have everyone dress in black as if they are mourning her for being so old.

I don't know about games.

Last party I went to, we ate alot of food, ate alot of jello shots and drank alot of beer. GREAT PARTY!

Here's some frozen drink recipes I posted awhile back:

Was that my party!?! Oh Yes, Fabfore1 thought it was GREAT - YIPPEE!! Since she did make the jell-o shots I'd have to agree with her there.

Ok, for a 50th birthday party I made the birthday recipient a card. On the front, it was shaped like a tombstone and in pretty much true to life size. I put their name and year of birth and death and then underneath it I calculated the years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds. On the inside I wrote a poem out of candy bars. I'll have to see if I still have it written down somewhere but it went something like this:

Do your old bones <Krackel> and <Crunch>
Do you feel like a <Butterfinger>
Has the Old <Whatchamacalit> Gone to <Mars>
blah blah blah blah...
Even so have a <GoodNPlenty> Birthday
You're the Best <BarNone>
<Hugs> and <Kisses>

Insert named candy bars where <>'s are. You can get pretty creative with this as there are a lot of candy bars. The person I made it for really appreciated it. May not apply to a 30 year old as it did a 50 year old but it was fun anyway.

Good Luck!

Those are some good ideas, thanks. Any of the ladies wanna give me some advice? Jenny, crabbie? It has been my experience that women know how to plan parties so how about giving me a little guidance?

You could do a 30's theme, or have everyone bring 30 of something as a gag gift (30 cans of beer, 30 cupcakes, 30 minutes of video footage, whatever).

Oh, and lots of booze. The best parties are the ones you don't remember until you see the photos...
