An intro book for those who dont know stocks?

Does anybody know a reputable introduction book about the stock market? I would like to get involved in e-trading but lack the resources.

At my local Borders B&M, they have a few, The Complete Idiot's (not you) Guide to Online Investing on clearance for 2.99. It's in Davis, CA

Otherwise, I believe E Trade gave away a bunch of free online investing manuals for free last year...but i doubt it's still working.
