Just wondering what you guys/gals out there do for a living.
Dunno if this threat's been done (too lazy to dig through it). For those who are students, just say what year and school. I don't know, many or any (expect for maybe Leon and Apex) for that matter so I thought this would be a good start.
I'm computer graphics designer in LA.

I am a Senior … Computer Information Systems major at Morehead State University
I Hope to graduate in May with a BBA with CIS option (concentration)
I work for the office of distance learning there... I work with ITV (AKA video conferencing, and some sat. downlinks too), I help in training faculty to teach internet courses, I do some web development for the office as well and on the side I am a freelance webmaster.
This Saturday at 5am I will be off to N. Myrtle Beach to try my hand at becoming a beach bum well at least for a week ... Vacationing it with my GF :-)
I am graduating in a year so those of you that have connections maybe you could hook me up with a job. :-)

Sadly enough, I wish I could get away from you (students) too. But between Passwird's homework and others bitching about papers and finals, I guess I'm stuck with you guys. ;)

Well, umm, I am staying at home right now. But, I have no Idea what I want to do. I know I don't want to go back to UPS Teleservices -- they suck when it comes to benefits. I could go work for their field support, that would be cool cuz that is hardware and not software. :)
But, I really want to go back to school. But I hate school!
So, I am professionally -- lost...??

Jenny: you know I didn’t mean you ... I wouldn’t dare say anything bad about the coupon Queen ... I don’t have anything against short ppl. My GF is 5’2”something and somehow she rounds that up to 5’4” I wish someone could explain the math to me on how that is possible(Inventive measuring maybe??? )... I don’t dare question her about it ... And I will eave it at that :-)

wow, cool, seems like most of us have pretty good jobs or go to quite "interesting" (MSU) schools. Good thing is coed...I'd hate to think of the alternative. Oh hats off to Jenny...I just spent the last 2 weeks with my nieces and nephew. I have to say, its tough being a fulltime parent. :)
Now, anyone here own their own business or do we pretty much work for someone else?

Pretty standard - CS/MIS major at UC-Berkeley, class of 2003 (maybe)
This summer I'm working for BEA Systems, the top player in the application server market. I'm also a semi-professional DJ and audio engineer. (a client of mine just released his CD/tape and has gotten great reviews, so I'm suddenly getting more work than I can handle in the remixing/remastering dept.)

Nope, sorry, I'm at the SF office. I was at the SJ one last week for a meeting, but I work in SF.
I answer the phone. Then I fix the computer at the other end. Then I stare in amazement at the lack of knowledge surrounding me

no one is going to believe me, but oh well.. this is what I do.. I sit in a really comfortable chair, and watch DVD's and make sure they work, correctly. I watch movies, and check their menus, and if they don't I send it to someone else to fix it, so I can watch something else.

I worked on every fuking version of that game, and thus have a copy of every one of them (PC, PS, DC {GB wasn't out}) Then I worked on a small game called Call To Power II, then I went to work for Pansonic (where I am currently employed).
