It is good for a summer movie....not going to win any awards, but it is entertaining.

...but I can't tell you why. (don't want to spoil it) I can only say it has some twists and turns that reminded me of Fight Club for some reason(the movies are nothing alike).
Anyway, one of the best action movies I've seen in a while.

I have to give Swordfish high marks. It was a fun movie to watch. A definate 'See in the theatre movie'.
Bires: It reminds you of Fight Club because they both start at the end. This is obvious 5 minutes into the movie so it shouldn't spoil anything.

only two good parts in the movie:
1) the way they started at the end of the story
2) the ending was thought provoking
as for the rest:
1) the story was alltogether unbelievable
2) ever see a computer screen function like the one in the movie? I haven't- appeared totally unrealistic
3) the ex-hacker was had not touched a computer in how long? but was some how able to break the code during his "test" in under 60 seconds when it takes others nearer an hour?
4) the ex-hacker was able to do the impossible in just a few days? (after not touching a computer in how long?)
5) what judge would grant custody of a little girl to her alcoholic dead beat mother and her pornography producing boyfriend who takes the pictures in his house Rather than custody to the little girls father who works hard and makes an honest (yet modest) living?
6) if there was a sex sceen in this movie it was either too short or way to uninteresting for me to remember it.
7) they had one shot where travolta was being chased in his car and he spun his car around and got out and shot at the other bad guys and blew up their car.-wow, that was really believable.
8) this movie was so dumb I am too bored with it to go on....just don't see it!

you guys suck, the movie sucked. I can see why you like the movie.
lol
ever watch, "The Dukes of Hazard"? Its an example of something that can be exciting and pushing reality and physics without totally blowing them out of proportion....that is until they decide to use a fake general lee model to jump over houses and barns....then it sucked because that wasn't even plausible.
X-files is another good example.....hey...it COULD, MAYBE, KINDA, POSSIBLY happen....right? There MAY be aliens and all that cool stuff from that show.
Some people like a bunch of fighting and shooting and action even though there is no real "story" or "purpose". I don't. I like stuff that makes me think and use my own imagination.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there is NO place for movies and shows without a plot, take porno videos for example...

Here's a deal for you Got|Apexers... Don't watch the movie and save yourself 8 bucks.
The only redeeming qualities were the nice cars and a pair of stainless HK USP Match pistols.

If you watched more movies that were well developed in the analitical department you may have actually had a chance of understanding my point of view and seeing that it is actually also YOUR point of view as well.-The movie lacks on realism, you liked that fact, I didn't.
The originator of this thread asked for our OPINIONS of this movie; I gave mine. Some of us are more easily entertained than others; my cat, for example, is entertained by a dangeling string, similiar to how you are entertained by big explosions, and other special effects. I, on the other hand, need more substance. Now, just 'cause your taste in movies doesn't agree with my tastes is no excuse for your rude remarks directed at me, personally. But I guess I can't blame you really, its not your fault your so unsophisticated, its probably the movies'.....

c'mon, I know you guys are cooler than that!
Now the worst would be if the directors and producers of these "mind-numbing" movies found out that people were actually getting serious about them. Take 'em for what they are.
I think both of you have a point, but Vacation, I think you're taking the movie a little too seriously. Like Dark said you should try to agree on your different movie going preferences rather than attack each other according to them. hell, if you really want to make your point, the Tomb Raider thread seems like a more appropriate target.
:) Peace.

Come on, how many innocent victims splattered across a window would it take to have the city reverse it's policy on hostage situations? And this is 1976; there's no CNN, no CNBC, there's no internet (oh dear god no!!). Now fast forward to today, present times, same situation. How quickly would the modern media make a frenzy over the story, and in a matter of hours it would be the bggest story from Boston to Budapest. Ten hostages die; 20; 30; relentless, bam bim, one after another, all caught in high def, computer enhanced, color corrected...you can practically taste the brain matter. All for what? a bus? a plane? a couple million dollars that is federally insured? I don't think so...but just a thought. I mean, it's not within the realm of conventional cinema, but...what the hell?
The movie was making fun of the lack of realism that it was going to introduce to your mind in a matter of minutess. Get a clue; they gave you enough...

You flatly stat that you believe I did not notice any "clue(s)" that the movie was going to have a, "lack of realism".
How did you come to that (wrong) conclusion? I have written my opinion about the movie and explained that part of the reason this is not a quality movie is because of its lack of reality. Whether early in the movie it stated that the movie would have a lack of realism is really besides the point. - Lets test this theory:
Lets assume (for this example) that you are stupid.
Now, if you TELL me in the first 5 minutes of meeting you that you are stupid does that make you no longer stupid?-No.
It may have been alluded to in the movie that the movie was not going to be realistic. It wasn't realistic. For that reason, and many others, I don't like the movie

ahem...liar
and your logic is horrible in your last post. If someone warns you there they're stupid in the first 28 seconds (not 5 minutes) of a conversation that they are stupid, of course they are still stupid; however, this in no way parallels to my points. I didn't say that the movie was unrealistic at any time, in fact I clearly stated that it was unrealistic. I am just directing your attention toward the entire point behind the movie, and once you see that...your supposedly superior discerning capablities should carry you through the rest of the logic. Reject.

ps - Darkfury (no furry), I have the movie...and for your information, that Halle Berry scene you like so much is 38 minutes and 27 seconds into the movie...for whenever you do get the movie, you'll know exactly where to go. I liked the movie but not as much as Usual Suspects. They actually seem the same to me in some aspects but usual suspects was better.
As for the realism. Most movies are not real per say or else they will not be in the movies. but they do stretch your mind and maybe it is possible for some things to happen. It is very intresting how the "bad" guy kinda wins. The unreal parts are the reason me and some of my friends got a bit confused but overall worth seeeing at least once. Movies like Tomb raider are not real and are not meant to be cause it is based on a video game which in itself is not real and part of someone's imagination.
Final Fantsy is not going to be real, heck does not even have real people in it but I would still love to see it. The story will proly be captivating and the drama and suspense should be good. although nothing about it is real. there are many things in reality that doesn't seem real either..... well I personally prefer more "real" movies also but things like the Matrix is just so cool and how it can happen and how it stretchs your mind to think.
In many was X-files is just as unreal as sowrdfish but in many ways they both can happen. We don't know enough about our world to say what is real and what is not, it is all the imagination of the movie's creator.
I repect your view on this movie as being not what you like but don't say (reffering to your point in your post) that this is a mindless movie... the person who made it had a mind.. just not the same as yours...

Hey, IAmVacuous you did insult everyone else long before anyone struck back. No one made any comment about the other movie-goers until you did...and you know what? no one else did at all. You made this personal by attacking the supposedly simple minds of those who liked the movie. Get off your pedestal and realize that you're to blame for the argument. Yes, your opinion and everyone else's do not properly align...but I don't care. That's not the point. The point is that you should just stop trying to make yourself appear to be superior (you've failed) and just realize that you did start the personal attacks.
