Why can't these little tree rats make up their mind when faced with a moving vehicle ? Whoever came up with the saying "He who hesitates is lost" surely had the squirrel in mind.

On second thought, vultures and othe carion eaters would probably starve if squirrels were a little smarter.

Well the little buggers seem to be getting fat off me. They ate 3x the number of apricots I got off the tree this season!

Every morning I see them happily munching away on the fresh, juicy apricots. Sometimes they even invite their friends from other yards to join in the feast.

Good thing they don't like tomatos.

Buy an air gun, use stone pellets. That's if you're the cruel type. Otherwise load up the .22 and go for the headshots. :heh:

Though they may look cute, make no mistake. Squirrels are nothing more than tree-dwelling rats with fancy tails.

I really got mad at one that was living in my eaves. Once evicted, it started chewing on my facia boards. I tacked more aluminum flashing along the area, it chewed farther out. I was ready to do something serious to that varmint, but it finally gave up and went away. GOOD RIDDANCE!

reciently 4 little birds have been showing up right outside my window... its pretty awesome. They always come around 3 in the afternoon and play around in front of the house and take little breaks in front of my room, I think they like the music :). Only down side is that theres a huge white spot right on the driveway now but its still worth it.

I have been plagued by those furry rats with tails for over 20 years. When I first bought my house, I got so fed up with them that I decided to do something about them.
I bought a really good BB gun and with the help of some friends, we were able to rid the neighborhood of about 25 of those critters. Since then, discharging a firearm has been seriously enforced and it would be risky doing that again( I always shot up into the trees when I aimed for them,I never shot anywhere close to horizontal ).
They can do serious damage to your house. They will chew on electrical wires, insulation, wood, and on and on.
Their natural predators must not be available in the suburbs. One thing I know, the only good squirrel is a dead squirrel.

I have some friends that had a problem with a squirrel that was getting into their attic. Then one day, while it was sitting on a section of flat roof on their house, they watched as a crow swooped down and carried the critter away.

The one that was living in my eaves never got back in. The first time I sent him away (by hammering on the overhang right under where he was living) he just dove out of the hole in the boards that he had opened up -- probably about 18 feet down to the ground. I covered the spot with aluminum flashing.

it is kinda wierd, here in OH there are so many more road kill around. I don't see this much in NY =P dunno if it is the animal population difference or just driving technique...
also I see a lot of shredded tires.... makes me worried that my tires will shred out here....

My friend Elena nearly made me drive off the road once by yanking the steering wheel to make me avoid hitting a squirrel. We saved the bushy-tailed rat, but I wound up with one wheel off the rapidly-dropping-off shoulder. Damn animal lovers. :)
