I need to buy a 256MB stick of SDRAM and was wondering what the difference is between CL2 and CL3? Also, does anyone have any recommendations as to where I should buy from?

Thanks!

as far as regular stuff goes CL (CAS) 2 RAM won't do you much good. Things like Word, Excel, blah blah blah won't benefit from that RAM. What will benefit from it is if you are a gamer. The Latency is lower (hence the 2 rating rather than the 3 :D) on the CL2 SDRAM.

http://www.crucial.com is a good place to get it. It might be more expensive than the generic stuff (CRAP!) but flaky RAM can bring down your whole system. Go for the good stuff.

Latency is the amount of time it takes to start accessing the ram. Explanation of what cas latency is (http://www.corsairmicro.com/main/trg-cas.html)
