man...why is it alright for scalpers to lurk around the front of a show and sell tickets for way over face value...but it's not ok to sell tix in a controlled, safer manner..like an online auction. it's frigging nuts. i'm trying to unload a bunch of extra tickets to the rolling rock town fair...and i was doing well...about 200 a ticket and ebay yanks them...so i relist..use some creative wording...and i get emails from rolling rock's lawyers.
it's bullshit...
if you're going to make laws concerning ticket resale...then enforce the laws...equally.

Sucks, but couldn't you just as well insert any location and any crime and complain about why it is strongly enforced in one location and not another?

good point...
i'm just a bit burned...i was planning on using the loot to get a new suspension for my car...thought it was easy money via ebay. now i need to find alternative routes.
guess i'm bitter b/c i'm lazy
anyway...i still think the whole scalping thing isn't a worthwile crime to be enforcing. in my eyes, it's all about supply and demand. sold out show, i have tickets, i can't go...might as well make some money on it right?
ah well...

Yeah, but you have to consider what the majority of scalpers do, which is on a much larger scale. If you bought 4 tickets and then have to get rid of them, that's one thing, but if you bought 50 with the intention of scalping them thanks to the artificially decreased supply, that's wrong. So because it's pretty difficult for the law to distinguish between you and the serious scalpers, they just treat everybody the same. Still sucks, but it makes sense, ya know?
