Cheap 486 computer

I'm looking to buy a cheap 486 computer, I remember computergeeks.com having one for $9 a while back is there anything like that going on now?

Awww man, you're a bit late on this... I just trashed an old 486 PC not too long ago. None of the recycling centers would take it and I didn't have room for it in my apartment, so I just left it out with the trash. Sorry man!

actually i have an old 486 in the garage... dont have a clue why i still have it but its there. I think its a Dx 100.

Hapoo are you interested in getting rid of it? I am actually going to need 3 total if anybody else out there has extra's to get rid of. I'm looking to do some dss emulation and I'll need a 486 or better for each tv. If anybody can help me out I'd pay shipping and a little over for reach cpu, monitor/keayboard/mouse not needed.

I have some 486/586 systemboards with memory. But no cases. I would love to get rid of them!I am in colorado.

Tomas316 - The system boards should work, are the cpus included?

Hapoo - If you have 1 video card and a floppy drive I'll take it, if your just trying to get rid of stuff i'd be happy to take it off your hands. Also, forgot to mention this in the previous post but the dss emulation is actually pretty easy if you already have satellite, if not then you have to buy all the satellite equipment along with the emulation stuff. That site I gave you explains it all so there's no point for me to. And the site does a much better job.

Hey, do you guys know if it's possible to emulate with an HU card? I don't know if this question was just asked ... I'm still a little uneducated on DSS. I also heard that unlooped cards that were hit with the Black Sunday ECM are now being targetted by hashing the satellite signal with the data that was written in the "write once" area!

chosenfool - A few answers as I know them to be. You only need the 486 or better for emulation but if you get the unlooper and reader/writer you should be fine and will be ready to go when HU emulation finally is finished. Also, would you be interested in selling any of those 10 Virgin HU cards, I only need 2 as backups but they would be helpful. P.S. Reread your post, yes you still need some type of cpu to read/write to the smart chip on the hu card.

Anxman69 - Emulation with an HU hasn't been perfected yet.
In so far as the black sunday cards, the only thing I know is that you can buy a 'bootstrap' from dumbdave.com for $45 I believe and that is supposed to bypass any bad sectors on your card.
