As i am lookign into building a new system, I've come to a screeching halt on which video card to purchase. Do i go with a gf3 for $350-$400? If so, which one is the best? Asus, Elsa, Hercules, Leadtek? Do I go with the MSI gf2 pro, for only $142?

Heres the system Im looking to setting up:

1.2 tbird
a7m266
256-512 pc2100
and the rest is extra babble...

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

IrishSS: If you want the best performing, most feature rich videocard now the GeForce 3 is the way to go. Absolute's MORPHEUS is the GeForce3 I would get {it has a great game bundle}. Please note prices on the GF3 will continue to slowly fall.

The GF3 has 200Mhz core and its DDR memory is clocked at 230Mhz. The Radeon 2 which has a 250Mhz core and DDR memory will be launching in September. The odds are great the Radeon2 will be faster than GF3. Like the GF3, the Radeon 2 will also be DirectX 8 compliant.

I consider it extremely likely that Nvidia will release a videocard probably an Ultra GF3 to compete with Radeon 2. Its because Nvidia wants to keep the speed crown. There are already rumors about this happening. http://www.chip-online.com/news_stories/news_stories_3792.html

I agree with chosenfool. GF2 Ultra is not a good choice. And either the GF2 Pro or 64 meg DDR Radeon would be a good videocard to buy.
