New rig...but I hate upgrading cause new stuff out again!!!

Ahh the good old upgrade bug. Well I was just hit with it a month ago. Just recently was I cured when my new system was comlete. It was completed when I purchased a new Sony SDM-M81 18.1" LCD monitor. I do play games, but it actually doesn't do too bad with games.

The thing is, I've been reading on that Planar 17.4" and now I've got this feeling that I didn't want to have. Gotapex claims the Planar has a response time of 10ms??? That's the fastest out there isn't it? I wonder how fast the Sony is, theres no info in any spec sheets. Well, I don't know if I want to take any more time with my computer.

A LCD uses around 1/3 - 1/4 of the power a normal CRT uses - Thats a good reason.

Techbargains had a link several weeks ago to find how much you could save on your electric bill by using a typical LCD versus a standard monitor. Well, I put all the numbers in the proper boxes and guess what, even at 13 cents a killowatt hour, I would only save $5.00 per year if I bought the LCD monitor. I was surprised, to say the least.
If I didn't have a system at all, I would seriously consider getting one. The 15" LCDs are rapidly approaching the $300 mark, and with the actual screen area of an LCD nearly the same as a 17" standard monitor, it would be an easy decision to make.

When you work on them for 8 hours a day and spend another 2 to 4 hours a day looking at a monitor at home. Having a LCD screen that is easier on the eyes than a CRT is a much better proposition. How much is not having a head ache or loss of sight to you? Joe apparently doesn't think much of the LCD displays, so a few years from now when they replace CRTs completely, he can stick with the big heavy, eye straining, headache inducing, radiation spewing CRTs.
