if its a small home network why are you using dhcp? Personally i find it way more conveniant to set up the IP's manually.

heh, people plug their computers into my switch all the time, i figure just set up the network for them.

Another possibility is the computer has hosed protocols.
I have seen it several times that everything is set up correctly, and even then it doesn't negotiate out.
When this happens you may be able to explore from one computer to another, but not visa-versa.
I know there is a way to simply reload that stuff, but I can't recall what it is--and reloading the OS does fix it.

actually i fixed it when i said i needed to slap my server.
what happened was that my dhcp server stopped stelling computers who does dns.
